Video

One of the remarkable things about Mr. Show is that they would use video in novel ways. Actors would often have dialogue with pre-taped location shots, and video segments would allow for set and costume changes during the live performance before a studio audience.

I'd add this segment, but first since it's based solely on observation I'd like to find an interview or article on the program that supports it - and perhaps explains how this affected the writing process.

On the DVD commentaries they mention the instances of pre-recorded/live dialogue, so that could be added, but if you can find anything on how that affected the writing process that would be great. --TheMidnighters 20:20, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Theme song

Does anyone have any info on the catchy theme song? Who was it written/performed by? - Quirk 16:32, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it was written and performed by Mark Rivers, a friend of David's, who also appears in the final episode as Info Jimmy (the guy with the clipboard who says, "That's it, season's over"). --TM 20:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

Jack Black

I find it strange that Jack Black isn't considered "Featured Cast." He was in four episodes, and had some pretty significant roles too. He had more air time on the show than some of the "Featured Cast." I'm not saying that TheMidnighters is wrong--just that I'm surprised. --Rhorn 02:45, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Actually it seems I was wrong for the most part, it turns out. In the book, and on the DVD covers he is listed as having "special appearances" or "special guest appearances", but in the show he is under "featuring" for all but one of his appearances. I've put him back in the featured cast section since I think the actual episode credits bear more weight. --TM 04:18, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

What does "pulled out their proverbial Alan Smithees" mean?

This line (from the Run, Ronnie, Run section): though both Bob and David pulled out their proverbial Alan Smithees once seeing it after the editing process is not very clear. --71.141.235.172 05:41, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Implies that they felt that they disliked the final product and no longer endorsed it.

Brief Appearances

Jay Johnston

So, Jay Johnston is only credited as appearing in episode #410. That is so horribly wrong it's almost not funny, but it is. I know in season one he only appeared in episode #102, but starting season two he was in pretty much every episode, right?

Yes, you are right. In a flash of pure irony, Jay Johnston is only credited as a member of the main cast in the very last episode of the show (Patriotism, Pepper, Professionalism), despite having been a recurring cast member throughout the show's entire run. Along those lines, I am changing Jay Johnston's credits back to being a member of the main cast only for episode 410. Someone changed it to "all seasons", which, as unfortunate as it may be, is absolutely wrong, and is certainly not verifiable. Eganio 19:49, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Tom Kenny

It says he was only on for 3 seasons.

That is entirely untrue as he was in many episodes in season 4. Particularly the one with the Wicked Sceptre sex tape. You guys don't have him credited under that episode. Just letting you know —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.202.88.248 (talk) 14:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

"Relation to other shows" section

Can we remove this? No other article that I know of has this kind of section which basically just lists a bunch of shows in which two or more cast members have appeared. While I think it's worthwhile to note that many of the cast members continued to collaborate after the series, listing every instance in great detail seems excessive/unnecessary/crufty. Support The list has spiraled to "Things David Cross and the Gang did after Mr. Show." There are a couple of pieces of information that could go elsewhere in the article, but largely this information belongs on the articles of the individual actors and shows.
