Removal of Info on Amenities/Activities

[edit]

Hi,

Why the removal of information on local bars, shops, and activities. Surely this is a place to learn about Moycullen. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the point of an article about a place not to inform people about that place?

Famous inhabitants

[edit]

Ireland's most renowned and internationally famous photographer Fergus Bourke lived in Moycullen until his death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:45:4904:DFE0:716D:7F64:59A7:5546 (talk) 17:29, 18 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Parish or village

[edit]

Two of the schools listed are over 10km from each other. That's large for a parish, huge for a village. The bulk of the article is about townlands; townlands pertain to a parish, not to a village. The parish of the same name is more the context of this article than the village. The articles lead gives undue weight to the village. Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:18, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, you have a strange fascination for civil parishes, way beyond their actual weight. Just remove the schools and write a separate article about the civil parish. The Banner talk 21:58, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your response ignores the overwhelming preponderance of evidence within the article that points to the article having a wider application than just a small hamlet. Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:38, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Your response is evidence of your desire to promote civil parishes way and way beyond their actual weight. The Banner talk 11:40, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Coming to this article, and looking at the infobox, I'd expect to be reading about a village, not a civil parish. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 13:40, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That's because of 3RR. Have a look at a diff like this one. Laurel Lodged (talk) 14:44, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's because I've been to the village of Moycullen, know what a townland is, but have no real idea what a civil parish is, except that it's not something as important or relevant as a village. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 15:20, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Reply. It's not about Google hits, it's about article content. I wrote virtually none of it. If you want it to be about a hamlet, that's OK by me. In which case 95% of the content will have to be removed to a new article called Moycullen (civil parish). Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:03, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You can also start writing about Roman Catholic parishes, they have far more relevancy than civil parishes. The Banner talk 21:35, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to create Moycullen (Catholic parish), be my guest. So that will leave us with 3 articles. Does Moycullen deserve 3? Probably not. In a combined article then, which ought to have dominance in the lead; the hamlet or one of the 2 parishes? Laurel Lodged (talk) 21:40, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You are the one trying to change this article into something meaningless. Do not run away now... The Banner talk 23:00, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The main focus in most of these articles is the town/village with some reference to the Parish. Like most of the famous people or places of interest will be from the parish/area not necessarily within the confines of the town/village. Finnegas (talk) 23:07, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, I like to know what kind of info you want to add to the article about the civil parish. They only thing that I know that is specific related to civil parishes is the land registration. The Banner talk 10:05, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
