Introduced to Scotland?

[edit]

I was under the impression and have heard it said by others, that mountain hares were the only native leporids in Scotland. Were they really, per the map, introduced and, if so, by whom? Mutt Lunker (talk) 22:05, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

According to Mammal Species of the World ([1]), that is wrong: they were introduced only to some Scottish islands as well as England. Ucucha (talk) 08:25, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked the author of the map if they can provide an amended version. Mutt Lunker (talk) 16:22, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Competing with European Hare in northern parts of Finland, Norway and Sweden

[edit]

The article claims (without a source) that mountain hare is competing for habitat in northern parts of Finland, Norway and Sweden. I think it should say "southern parts of Finland, Norway and Sweden", since european hares can be found only on southern parts of these countries. 2A02:810D:AABF:EC98:60EC:995A:1C65:8548 (talk) 18:46, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
