Town name

The town was incorporated in 1779. There is a petition dated 1777 also using the name. Although both come well before Washington became president, the postscript shows "As we are on a great mounten we desire your honers to give us the name of Mount Washington."^[1] Washington does not sound like an archaic Taconic term.

That makes sense to me, and definitely sounds more plausible. I figured someone who knew more about Massachusetts towns than me could shed some light on it, thank you! The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 01:04, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
