Assessment

I am giving this article start-class. It has content beyond a stub, but lacks references. The lead of the article needs to be split into multiple paragraphs, and bear in mind it should only introudce and summarise the article, see WP:LEAD. Much of the existing content should probably go in a dedicated history section. The article could probably be expanded further, see WP:WPSCH/AG#S for a guide on what sections an article should have. Some of the current content needs to be cut down a bit, per WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI, material only of interest to pupils at the school is not appropriate in Wikipedia articles. I am also giving this article low-importance as there is not enough evidence of importance to justify a higher rating. Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:24, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

There is not a whole lot more that you can put on there and I would know I am a student there. The article is close if not completed, and you do not live in West Virginia so you cant do anything to this article if your not from McDowell County, West Virginia!Nascar1996 (talk) 22:45, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Agree with Camaron. The article is beyond a stub, but needs sources. NerdyScienceDude :) (✉ click to talkmy editssign) 23:18, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

There are no more sources that I can put on the page so it is completed for now unless you want me to put Mount View High School is also the only school in McDowell County that has had a bomb threat.and Im serious we have had multiple bomb threats at my school. Go Mount View Golden Knights!! Nascar1996 (talk) 02:09, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Most of the current page is unsourced. Per the Wikipedia:Verifiability policy and the Wikipedia:Reliable sources article's should be written based on secondary sources e.g. newspapers, books, reliable websites. If the content on the page did not originate from such sources then it should not really be there in the first place. Camaron · Christopher · talk 13:35, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean?i just put information on there that was in my agenda book.I am a student there.Nascar1996 (talk) 13:47, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I mean that all material in Wikipedia articles must be from a published reliable sources, that is the core of how Wikipedia operates. Please take a read of Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources. WP:CITE provides a guide to citing sources. I have also demoted the article back down to Start-class as that is what it is under WP:ASSESS. Authors or major contributes to an article should not be giving it quality or importance ratings due to a natural tendency by such users to overestimate the quality or importance of an article they wrote. Camaron · Christopher · talk 14:42, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I am getting tired how Wikipedia runs things so if you want to DELETE the article no one looks at it anyway and I know alot of people would not even use the article. Would you please give me an example I do not have time to read the whole article.Thank You.Nascar1996 (talk) 20:29, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

The article will not be deleted any time soon, and I'm sure plenty of people will make use of it in the long-run. If you don't want to edit Wikipedia any more you are free to leave, though you are also welcome to stay if you have something more to contribute. If you want an example have a look at one of Wikipedia's best school articles: Amador Valley High School. Note how most statements are sourced? Bear in mind that this is a well known school; I am not expecting this article to look anything like that any time soon! Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:52, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Ohhh my gosh zNo ONe uses this page I know really the only people who do know about the school is only the people who live there and why in the hack would some one us this page, uhh no reason nobody pays attention.Nascar1996 (talk) 21:12, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

And I do wish to continue but everyone else is deleting my work such as you and NerdyScienceDude and Martin H.This is what I am tired of I try to help and ohh wait where did that go ohh wait some deleted it.And no one knows if they took that picture or not.Nascar1996 (talk) 21:16, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I doubt everyone in a local area knows everything there is to know about a school, and I'm sure there would be people outside the local area which for their own reasons might want to know more about the school themselves. If your work is being deleted it is because it violates policies and guidelines, if you stick to these then nothing will be deleted. Camaron · Christopher · talk 21:44, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't know why they would most wait everyone who knows this school hates it even the students.and the school has a poor representation.Nascar1996 (talk) 22:02, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Nevermind,This article is a start and will be a C very, very soon.I will work on the page some more.Nascar1996 (talk) 11:43, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
This article is coming on nicely now; keep up the good work. This article has a two references now, though more would be good to get this article C-class. The adding of a history section is good though I would suggest breaking it up into multiple paragraphs, and add the source of all this information. The more information section needs some work. Please try to avoid information only of interest to pupils at the school, see WP:WPSCH/AG#WNTI. Wikipedia articles should be written in third person - don't use second person words such as "you" and "yours". Furthermore, make sure you are not copying word-for-word material from book and websites, as this can raise yet more copyright issues. Please put everything in your own words. Finally, some pictures of the school itself would be great. Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:51, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes,I agree, but because of our no eletronic devices rule we are not allowed to have cameras so this would be very hard.I will try to get a photo.I also do not know any resources that can be added to desribe the history or the other main sections.Knowing this what should I do?-Nascar1996 (talk) 00:20, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, well try your best though don't get yourself into trouble for Wikipedia. The material in the history section is rather detailed, it must have come from somewhere. Did someone tell you? Did you read it in a book or on a website? Camaron · Christopher · talk 10:56, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Well,I have heard some of it from other people while the other information it happened while I have been there which means that I know about it, but thats hard for someone else who wants to do a project of the school.Mount View High also does not have a lot a websites that you can go on to find information.I did write it all though.Nascar1996 (talk) 16:48, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
I see. Unfortunately I could not find much in a Google search, though there seem to be several Mount View High Schools which makes finding stuff a little more difficult. There is probably stuff in offline sources such as books and newspapers but these are difficult to find and source. Camaron · Christopher · talk 20:33, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
So what should I (or we) do because of this? Most websites on this topic are also out of date such as in 2009 the middle and high school combined but some sites are still saying the school is 9-12 when now it is 6-12.Nascar1996 (talk) 21:44, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
Well I would normally say look around for offline sources about the school, though that can be difficult. There may be some information on the history of the school in a library if you have one. You may even be able to ask someone for some old documents. Camaron · Christopher · talk 16:17, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
