Proposal

[edit]

I recommend that this article be split into 2 separate wiki listings. Searcy Hospital is called such by it's owners, the state of Alabama (http://www.mh.alabama.gov/MI/?sm=b), it's employees and patients, and is the only title on any official documents produced at the hospital. It is historically significant that it ONCE was the site of Mount Vernon Arsenal and later the Mount Vernon Barracks (but, never, as far as I can tell, "Searcy Hospital Complex").

I recommend the Mount Vernon Arsenal article end with "....was deeded to the state of Alabama and is now the site of <Searcy Hospital>" with hypertext link there to the new wiki site of Searcy Hospital, which can then be expanded with more current information.

If I am in error and there is a style practice showing a preference for the current format, then I have no other questions 216.226.180.2 (talk) 18:58, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Vernon Arsenal-Searcy Hospital Complex is the official name listed with the National Register of Historic Places, which is the purpose of this article, to address the historic buildings that are at the site. I also responded on your talk page. Altairisfartalk 20:12, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and followed the above proposal, as the hospital itself is now slated to close and both the arsenal and hospital are noteworthy subjects each unto itself. Altairisfar (talk) 17:05, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
