The Pine Creek mine on Mount Tom was an important source of tungsten for much of the 20th century although scheelite ore deposits are now largely depleted and mining on the mountain has mostly ceased
Locals in Bishop would disagree. They feel that the mine was shut down to satisfy environmentalist objections and that the mine could still be just as productive as ever. Corsair1944 (talk) 20:38, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
