Elevation

The article, prior to my edit, commented that there is some controversy about the elevation of this mountain. The elevation from PeakBagger is commonly accepted and is based on the contour lines shown on the USGS topo map. 7640 feet is the elevation shown for the highest closed contour line so the elevation is at least that great (assuming the map is accurate). The elevation reported by GNIS is based on the National Elevation Dataset which is seldom a good source from summit elevations. The database usually reports the average elevation for a grid square. Elevations of summits that rise steeply are are usually inaccurate.  –droll [chat] 05:43, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
