Local name?
[edit]Is this a local name? I cannot find the mountain in CGNDB nor bivouac.com. RedWolf (talk) 06:00, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, 13 years later I have a follow-up. It's still not in CGNDB or BCGNIS or bivouac.com but bivouac does have a Mt. Proctor in Alaska. I'm wondering if the peak name was created in error and really should be named "Mount Procter". RedWolf (talk) 05:34, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
- So CGNDB has a entry for "Mount Procter" and the map shows it just SE of the Three Sisters N of Fernie, B.C. Google searches seem to indicate that locally it is spelled "Proctor" and a map I found related to those searches show the name as "Mount Proctor" [1]. I'm convinced the CGNDB entry of "Mount Procter" is this "Mount Proctor" as the CGNDB coords are almost identical for BCGNIS "Mount Procter". Also, there is this Mount Proctor hiking trail. - There is also a "Mt Proctor Ave" in Fernie. No "Proctor" road. CrazyCanuck (talk) 16:50, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
- Meant to say: 'No "Procter" road.' CrazyCanuck (talk) 16:51, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
