[edit]Regarding the assertion, "This is three times the amount of data a Type II system radio sends", a radio sending a Type I request for a group call sends, as part of the request, a 16 bit value comprising the Fleet, Subfleet and Unit ID. A radio sending a Type II or IIi voice request sends its 16 bit unit ID and the system knows the talkgroup affiliation for the request. However, if the radio is not affiliated, then it also sends in the talkgroup (12 bits) and request type (4 bits). Therefore, Type II/IIi radios at best send the same amount of data as a Type I radio, or more. Let me know if I can help clarify what you are trying to claim.
