Spam?
[edit]Why exactly is this information spam?
- Motorcycle, a band formed by Gabriel & Dresden and Jes Brieden
--Evb-wiki 14:33, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- There is no link to purchase a product or any npov info. It does not meet the definition of spam. If the info is true, it can stay. --Evb-wiki 15:00, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Motorcycle is the name of a band / musical collaboration. There are thousands of Wikipedia articles on bands and musical artists including articles on specific items in their discography. No way does a link such as this constitute spam. Consider just one category in Wikipedia for bands from a single decade Category:1990s music groups and you will see that there are approximately 1400 bands listed. Hardly spam. --Cheesy Mike 15:30, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
"Evb-wiki (Talk | contribs) (he's a painter, not a motorcycle, nothing disamb about it. this is not a *see also* page"
Right on! Let's hope this takes care of listing nonmotorcycles as motorcycles, be it painters or minor music groups, forever! 67.142.130.35 19:32, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, if the painter were named Motorcycle, there would be lots of ambiguity that a page like this is designed to clear up. --Evb-wiki 20:15, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- See, for example America, H-Town, Boston (disambiguation) and Chicago (disambiguation). --Evb-wiki 20:30, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Repeated removal of music group
[edit]This is a disambiguation page. It is not a page about two wheeled motorcycles. It is not a page for lists of motorcycle related topics. Read the definition Wikipedia:Disambiguation - especially section 1.1 What not to include - and you will see that much of what is on the page currently does not belong. However a link to an article about a musical group called motorcycle is a perfectly justifiable use of a disambiguation page. See the example quoted in the page above for "Mercury" refers to planets, elements, cars, plants, mythology, spaceflight - all different things, all placed on a disambiguation page to that someone looking for information relating to mercury can find the specific piece of info that they want to quickly and easily.
I would ask that whoever keeps removing the link stop. Continual reversion is contravention of Wikipedia policy (Wikipedia:Three-revert rule) and is likely to get your edit access suspended. If you don't think an article about a band called Motorcycle should be linked from this disambiguation page then please have the decency to tell us why. --Cheesy Mike 20:39, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- If you don't think an article about a great motorcycle painter should be linked from this disambiguation page then please have the decency to tell us why. Moreover, the minor band to which you refer is NOT named "motorcycle" and, therefore, does not belong here. 67.142.130.40 21:30, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Jeff, please tell me that 67.142.130.40, etc., is not you. --Evb-wiki 22:50, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
