A new trailer for this game was released that shows some gameplay footage, definitely something to put into the article. I found it on Gametrailers.com, there might be other sources.
Launch title
I removed the speculative launch date. The Viper 09:25, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Medial capital
I think that this ought to be at Motorstorm. Medial capitals are fussy, confusing marketing manipulation attempts that shouldn't be encouraged. There are 178,000 Googe hits for "motor storm" because this game title looks like two words. Sometimes both title forms even show up in the same article, e.g. this one at Gamespot (I'm sorry, should I have pressed Shift for that s in spot?). If Sony wanted the s capitalised, they should have made the title two words. ENeville 02:30, 4 October 2006 (UTC)
- Shut up.
- Honestly, since when do Wikipedia users get to dictate terms on the presentation of a product's name? There's specific tags in place because some items' first letter should be lowercase but because of Wikipedia's technical setup, the first letter is always capitalised. If the product is named "MotorStorm" it should be entered as such and not changed because someone "doesnt like marketing". This has nothing to do with marketing, just how it was chosen to be spelled. Why not get Driv3r's entry changed. Once for including a 3 in the name, and also because its all caps. We're not in charge of what the creative team christen their titles and hopefully, not arrogant enough to rechristen it into what we think the title should be.--193.195.87.117 12:13, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- My mistake. I was speaking a little too freely here. I do think the concept behind the complaint is reasonable, but should have been made (with more restraint) on a policy page, such as MOS:TM (which actually does advocate the concept of normalizing capitalizations for trademarks as opposed to deferring to trademark owners' interests). ENeville 04:17, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
but the game is called MotorStorm, written like that.90.196.208.124 20:46, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Publisher pitch?
Is it just me, or does the Description section of this page seem more like a useless publisher pitch than actual information about the game? It's hardly what I'd call neutral, verifiable, or encyclopedic information. It's just some marketing guy's statements about how awesome they are.
I'd suggest having this section removed, or rewritten by someone who's familiar with the game.--Poinexter1985 17:11, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- I assume it's copied right from the publisher, because the exact same description is on IGN's page for this game. I added advertisement and NPOV tags to the article, as I am not familiar enough with the game to make any content changes to it. --Lyght 02:49, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- I cleaned the article up, let me know how it looks now. --Cmsjustin 13:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
AU/PAL Dates
An unregistered user keeps adding the AU date back in without citation. I suggest we move it to March 2007 for all of PAL or we cite each release date. March 2007 would be good enough until we get closer to launch day I think. --Cmsjustin 17:29, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Massive damage?
Oh please, it looks like some fool with a thing for internet memes got into the article. There is no proof that this stupid massive damage thing folks are going on about all the time is related to the motorstorm demo.
1up confirms Motorstorm does not support 1080p or 60fps
On January 10, 2007, 1up confirmed that Motorstorm does not run at a resolution of 1080p. I took the time to add a reference link and an update to the page. The article also confirms that the game runs at only 30 frames per second, not 60 frames per second. The name of the article on 1up is called, "Motorstorm Does Not Support 1080p." Both Demo Versions
We all know that the kiosk demo has two tracks and you can switch cars on the track, right? Well, I downloaded the demo onto my PS3 and it only has one track. I edited the article to fix this but now I see that it has reverted back to the version before my edit. If anyone else has this demo on their PS3, please help me solve this problem. Pteren 15:02, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- I own a ps3 ad the sonystore copy of the demo, Yes I have played the kiosk edition and yes they have several differances. While I can't say that the kiosk version has framerate issues (never encountered those) you can switch between cars/trucks/bikes at the begining of the race. The sonystore copy doesn't let you switch cars before race start, has only one track and has this werid glitch that causes your bike to be sucked into the ground, crashing instantly when there is an upward change in elevation or you slam into the ground from a jump. I'm sorry I'm not logged in making my words useless but school has blocks that don't let me log in. 208.63.46.9 15:53, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Ryukuroi
- Okay. So you have only one track too.Pteren 13:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- I love when that ground sucking glitch happens to me. My friends and I laugh are heads off. Playstationdude 00:19, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Multiplayer?
http://www.psu.com/node/6964 says that Evolution Studios will not be having split-screen play for Motorstorm. Pteren 15:06, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Release date
MotorStorm shipped on March 6, 2007. it was actually released on March 7, 2007—today.thegreentrilby 21:02, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. I just purchased it today at Target.Pteren 01:03, 9 March 2007 (UTC)
- Does Wikipedia go by ship date or release date?—thegreentrilby 21:40, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
- The official release date is March 6th. Most retailers get the game late. Any high-profile game will be expedited to the retailers for actual release date. Think Madden or GTA: San Andreas. —cmsJustin (talk|contribs) 12:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Rumors of split screen
There is talk of split screen being added, along with additional cars and tracks (the latter two possibly for a fee), in a possible downloadable update. Anyone care to look into the matter? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.233.120.2 (talk) 17:07, 12 March 2007 (UTC).
Glitches
I love this game. I played the demo all the time, and I've been playing it every day since I bought it on launch day. The gameplay is so much fun. But that being said, I experience freezes and other glitches almost every day.
- During gameplay the game will freeze but will still play music.
- Headsets will work the first time/server, but will not work again until you restart the game.
- Game hosts will freeze while starting the game. They will hit Start but just see video playing and no options, and the host can still talk to the other players. It doesn't give up host token either so everyone else is stuck in the game lobby until the host exits the game.
I'd like to include these in the article in a Glitches or Criticism section, while abiding by WP:NOR. I haven't seen any published reports of this, so if someone get a link to one we can use it as a reference. Also, anyone know of any other serious issues? —cmsJustin (talk|contribs) 12:20, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
these have been recently almost all fixed with the 1.1 update you get when you go online, plus the image on the page isn't a cutscene but it's ingame.
Swap Vehicles on Demo Version?
I downloaded my own demo version of MotorStorm and it does not feature Swap Vehicles. I had to start with the same vehicle I have picked. Does anyone have a device that allows you to swap vehicles? Professional Gamer 23:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- You cannot perform that in the home demo, only the kiosk demo. GOLAASTL24 22:56, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- Kiosk demo? Whats that? Professional Gamer 18:48, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Kiosk demos- demos at stores, the trial demo for retailers, not the demo from the PS Store GOLAASTL24 04:15, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Demo music
Can anyone tell me the name of the song in retail demo?--Mac-10&Cheese 20:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
- Slam by Pendulum is the name, I believe Mawfive 04:16, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
WP:VG Assessment
- Lead section too short per WP:LS.
- Sections are not what one would expect in an article about game. Try re-ordering the current content in the following sections:
- Gameplay (Current gameplay)
- Development (contains updates and patches, as well as release dates and demos)
- Reception (both pre-release (E3) and post-release, so include reviews in that)
- Soundtrack
- E3 video needs sources. Try to find the actual video on google video or youtube, and some comments on that video by gaming websites.
- Gameplay needs sources. Try to find what the reviews wrote about the gameplay.
- Remove the subsections of the updates section (which should be merged with the release dates), and make it one paragraph. Reading one sentence at a time is not nice.
- The reviews section is not informative. For scores only, one could just list the Metacritic score. Discuss why the chosen rating was awarded by some reviewers, what they thought the good and bad points are, etc. For an example of how I personally do this, see Supreme Commander#Reception.
- References need Template:cite web to make better links, and include accessdate, author and date information.
Kept start, rated mid importance (launch title for Europe PS3) --User:Krator (t c) 21:00, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Fake Reviews
Where did that PSM review saying 88% come from, because I read that magazine and they rate from 1-10, not percents. If I am missing something please tell me. Playstationdude 00:19, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
There could be more than one magazine named PSM. For example, there are two magazines called Play. One in the UK, which is a PlayStation exclusive magazine and another in America, which is a magazine that reviews games on all current consoles. There could also be different versions of the magazine for different regions, i.e., PSM UK, PSM US etc. Michael Mad 12:14, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Eagle's Nest
Does anybody know anything about this new track and when it's coming out? It was played for about 15 seconds at E3. 72.191.25.136 20:16, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Failed GA
Numerous issues here. One, it is thinly referenced, and the refs themselves are improperly marked up and sporadic. In addition, there are significant grammar issues (see the lead "between in") and all images need additional fair use rationale (see the images of Halo 2 for an example.) David Fuchs (talk) 19:59, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Downloadable Content
Updated the article with some further information about the next addon. 86.149.214.241 16:27, 1 September 2007 (UTC) (also hadn't noticed I wasn't signed in VonBlade 16:28, 1 September 2007 (UTC))
Gee. Thanks for deleting my update. It wasn't duplicate text as I was clarifying what's new and it wasn't spam/abuse/etc. Yes, let's make Wiki articles have even less content than before and eventually every page will be a stub. Meh. VonBlade 20:09, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Refs
I've changed all of the refs (that were basically links in a ref tag) into full blown annotated links. Should help with the next GA. - X201 13:12, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
14 September 2007 edits
I've reverted the edits that were made by an IP editor for a number of reasons 1) A lot of changes were made that were not supported by the existing citations and no new citations were added to support the changes. 2) The original paragraph was Europe centric (European track names etc) Deleting this information and replacing it with a US centric text is just not on. Additional information is just that additional we don't just erase information from Wikipedia to suit our own viewpoint.
Later today I will use the info provided by the IP user and add sections to the article pointing out different names etc. - X201 08:03, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
MotorStorm - Violent?
Just a question. Does MotorStorm's content is violent? If so, then why. Professional Gamer 18:55, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- The only thing violent I've noticed is that ATVs and Motorcycle riders can kick each other off.--Playstationdude 01:01, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Glitch
Does anyone know if anything happens if you download the time trial add-on before the 1.2 update, because I think it is what stops the game from coming up on my ps3. I also know that it isn't my disc.--Playstationdude 00:55, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, it causes problems if you do it it in the wrong order. I'll reply on your talk page. - X201 08:04, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Update version 3.0
Whenever I played MotorStorm, it did'nt announced the 3.0. Professional Gamer 17:45, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Are you in the US?. The patch has been available in Europe since the date in the citation. I'll remove the fact tag (because there's already a citation) and add Europe before the date to clarify it - X201 19:38, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. I'm from US. My US version has'nt announced the 3.0 version yet. Professional Gamer 18:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Prices
Should we include the prices of the downloadable content on the playstation store? America, European and UK? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.105.19.210 (talk) 21:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
- No. See WP:NOT#DIR Item No. 4 - X201 (talk) 22:40, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Update
MotorStorm Wikia has been announced and was created.
Game reception section
Sorry I don't know how to create a new heading so I put one here. Perhaps some analysis of the game would be of worth? Maybe a 'criticisms' section? I bought the game myself and was disappointed with some minor aspects that really should not be in a game with PS3's alleged muscle. That is, the bushes, mud and flying dirt are 2D sprites. This is acceptable say, 10 years ago in 'Doom' but quite bizarre in the current state of software development. Several reviews on the internet mention the sprite issue. That more people have not apparently spotted this and come to the consensus that this is unacceptable I find quite surprising.
Other flaws that are apparent:
- Cars ghost right through bushes, the 'leaves' stick up into the car, through the car, totally unaffected.
- Poor 'patchwork quilt' type textures on the terrain and on the mountain peak on the vehicle choice screen.
Basically, I am saying that perhaps we should be more thorough on a game article, pointing out both flaws and successes. :) 74.210.56.135 (talk) 07:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to put a reception section up at some point. A lot of the things you mention are things that you have spotted yourself, a users personal observations are not added to Wikipedia because they are Original Research (WP:OR will explain it better than I can). I'll keep an eye out of the things you mentioned but if reviewers in reliable magazines/websites haven't spotted them there won't be a citable reference for them. Wikipedia articles should be balanced (WP:NPOV), this is usually addressed in the reception section of an article to cover magazine/website reviews and ratings. - X201 (talk) 11:45, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Original research, my ass. This person stating the sprite thing isn't 'original research', it's a fact, and the things mentioned are as clear as the nose on you're face. Anyone who hasn't actually seen this on the game must be blind. Noone needs to 'keep an eye out' as it it part of the design of the game. This, in itself I agree with the above, is inexcusable for a machine with what? 6 accessable cores? SCEA could have used 1 core just for the bushes, mud and dirt!
Really, instead of pulling the old OR card (which is kneejerk, one is throwing the baby out with the bathwater) the critisisms section could say something like "...sprites are used for mud, smoke and vegetation, instead of 3d versions."68.144.5.38 (talk) 08:23, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
MotorStorm's Japanese Game Name (Request)
Should we add the Japanese name of MotorStorm? Just wanting to imporve the aricle for Japanese users about this game. 70.45.180.203 (talk) 17:37, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
