who was the community being served when it was built?

[edit]

is there any interesting story, is there an immigrant community behind building it? -- 15:03, 16 August 2010 71.190.72.157

Apparently from Lebanon (the external link [1] doesn't seem to work). Before WW2, the majority of self-proclaimed Muslims in the United States were actually Ahmadis, or members of precursor groups to the Nation of Islam... AnonMoos (talk) 18:49, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ross, ND mosque (demolished and rebuilt) was from 1929

[edit]

There seems to be new evidence that this wasn't the first, but rather the second mosque. I've noted it. The mosque in tiny Ross, North Dakota was built in 1929, demolished in the late 20th century, but then rebuilt as a commemoration in 2005. Please see this Voice of America article as well as this recent travelogue that CNN picked up this week. --Bobak (talk) 22:16, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
