Copyvio

[edit]

User:Circeus spotted a substantal copyvio on this page (well done!) but as this is an article with language and other links then rather than delete the whole page as a copyvio I've rv'd it to the base information (plus links). A *non-voi* entry would be nice to see! --Vamp:Willow 14:20, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Descrimination, population movement

[edit]

I was just reading When the Spider Danced: Notes from an African Village by Alexander Alland, Jr. who discusses Akan prejudice against Mossi communities. He details Mossi communites in Cote d'Ivoire as long term visitors treated as second class citizens. This is in the 60s and 70s: it would be interesting to see the state now with the jingoism that led to the Ivorian Civil warT L Miles 21:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slavery

[edit]

Why no mention of their involvement in the slave trade? Or the Ashanti for that matter? Or is it best kept to the pages about white Europeans? Marlinspike (talk) 16:36, 4 March 2009 (UTC) What Marlinspike would like to call 'slavery' is the equivalent of what is called peonage in Spanish colonial societies & has similarities to the peasantry systems of medieval Europe. If Marlinspike would like to revise the terminology and speak of 'slavery' in medieval Europe or/and a 'slavery' system of indigenous peoples instituted by the conquistadors, then i would support the notion. As i see no movement to do so,i don't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adawablk (talkcontribs) 09:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the Volta River basin?

[edit]

I thought the Volta River basin was in EASTERN Ghana along with the Volta Lake. How is it ALSO in the CENTER of Burkina Faso?

Are there two different definitions of "basin" for this one river? Or are these two nations fighting over who gets to claim the "real" Volta River? Or has the Volta River moved due to dam construction? Or... Dr.Bastedo (talk) 06:04, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
