History
[edit]If anyone has the book "Youth's Bright Years: An American High School," it contains a comprehensive history of MHS from its opening until around the late 1990's, maybe 2000. I have a few excerpts from the book, so I'll add a little bit to the history section. AdamMatthew (talk) 04:07, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
The history section has been revised to read as an article, however, it only consists of three sentences. I'm a graduate of MHS myself and I know that there is an entire club (Heritage club) dedicated to the research of the history of Morristown High School. In fact, there is even a current class about the history of Morristown. I'm certain there is more information that can be added to this section, so if someone has any please do add it. If need be, I will edit the addition to fit nicely. At this point, information is needed; poorly written or otherwise. SHusin 18:41, 18 March 2007 (UTC)
The history section is not at all written as though it were intended to provide factual information in a clean and concise manner. Instead, it appears as though the writer intended to embellish the history section by adding a narrative of sorts. A more information-based history is needed to replace this un-encyclopedic entry. Murphy
[edit]What is the difference if Murphy were demoted from Asst. Superintendent? The important thing is an alum was named principal. Her previous jobs - street vendor, cop, whatever are irrelevant to that fact for a MHS article. If you want to put her previous jobs in an article on Murphy, fine! Student7 11:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
- She was an assistant principal at Morristown High before becoming principal. That's why she was promoted when she became principal. -- SNiyer12, (talk), 16:55, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. Yes. We understand that. But why is her previous job important to this article about MHS? Remember, the article is not about Murphy or any other principal. Student7 (talk) 21:10, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]If someone feels motivated I would appreciate it if someone added to the trivia section that "Thomas Limoncelli, author and activists, graduated in 1987". Thanks.
Race riot in 1974
[edit]I was a student there in 1974, when a race riot broke out. I've done a google search to find references, without success. Perhaps someone in the school's history club can add some info here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.255.43.8 (talk) 05:50, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Students themselves generally have no historical perception. Anything beyond four years back is "ancient" (uninteresting) history to them! (It would be a simple matter copying and recording trophies from the display into the article, for example).
- If you are in the area (I'm not!), you might try the Morristown Record microfilm in the library. Just ran across another resource for area residents School District Records at the One Miller Road Library.Student7 12:16, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
Notables
[edit]My suggestion on notables is to include the class (or estimated class where possible) and eliminate birth date which is unusual for this list. Student7 (talk) 11:47, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
