- Useless disambig (no other use)
- Country and people have different names. No other use for Moroccan
So you don't think "Moroccan" is the demonym for Morocco? It is, however, written both right there in the Morocco infobox and in the list of adjectival and demonymic forms of place names. Compare with American, British, German, French, Italian, ... When people link "Moroccan", they don't necessarily refer specifically to the people, they may very well refer to the country. Hence, disambiguation is appropriate in this case, too. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 13:39, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Were you the IP who changed this page a couple days ago? I don't understand how and why you jumped in for the first time in this topic area.
- WP:OTHERSTUFF is not an argument, page has been stable as a redirect for years, hundreds of pages link here, turning it into a disambig now just makes our editing lives miserable. If you're so concerned about the confusion, you should know that the page Moroccan (disambiguation) already exist, add a hatnote where applicable and please stop Edit warring. - I was not - I saw it through The Daily Disambig. It doesn't make any sense to prevent disambiguation of this ambiguous term just because it's non-trivial - it's just normal disambiguation work, why would anyone be miserable about it?! Before it was 'stable', it was switched between the two meanings, clearly demonstrating that it was practically known back then that it was ambiguous. Thank you for telling me about the stray disambiguation page - it was not linked from anywhere, so it was useless - I've moved it here so it actually has a purpose. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:33, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- Also, a hatnote would be appropriate if the people article was WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and all others were negligible. I don't see how that's the case here. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:43, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
- ...because I clicked through the first ten incoming links and saw:
- Arab people - wants to link to Morocco, not Moroccan people
- Cavalry - wants to link to a Moroccan person - ambiguous either way
- History of Africa - wants to link to Moroccan nationalism - was probably fine with a link to people
- Tifinagh - wants to link to Morocco (schools)
- Battle of Monte Cassino - wants to link to Moroccan-French people (troops) - was probably fine with a link to people
- World music - wants to link to Moroccan music
- Geography of Yemen - wants to link to Morocco (mountains)
- Veneto - wants to link to Moroccan people (immigrants)
- Pim Fortuyn - wants to link to Moroccan people (youths)
- Hangzhou - wants to link to Ibn Battuta, whose intro says [[Morocco|Moroccan]] [[Berber people|Berber]]
- So from that sample I don't quite see much proof that the redirect was the most appropriate option. --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:54, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
