notability

[edit]

To me, notability of this organization seems to be a borderline case. By the notability criteria for organizations, independent reliable sources are required to make sure that the subject is notable. No such sources were given; I looked for them on the Web, and found at least coverage in a local newspaper (added that to the article). This alone would probably not be enough to establish notability. On the other hand, the publications ("Case Reports") of the M.A. are listed by many libraries.

For the time being, I am resetting the date counter of the notability tag, and hope that a subject-matter expert can add more secondary sources.

Sorted as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B. Wolterding 12:16, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-- I agree this is borderline. The organization never achieved the notoriety of its founders. But it's a keep for now. Carneadiiz (talk) 02:47, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Much later, I agree it's borderline. I've tried to add a few sources, and have, but ... There is a little bit more if one searches for "Mormon Defense League" in that time frame, that's going to be harder to do as a 2011 org with the same name is starting to make that search more difficult. I would be curious if the MA generated any more visible reaction in mainstream LDS pubs, so far here we're not hearing much (and maybe not much was said), but I can't get past the idea that I might be missing something through my lack of knowledge of LDS-oriented publications. --j⚛e deckertalk 17:42, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

inactivity

[edit]

The Alliance is defunct, judging by the website. I updated the article to reflect the fact that the newsletters and case report publications have ceased. I also did not find anything about the quarterly meetings continuing. Carneadiiz (talk) 02:47, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
