Underage
[edit]What on earth is an underage migrant? In the context "Two other underage migrants allegedly involved...", "underage" is quite meaningless. 109.158.48.91 (talk) 21:36, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
I agree that this is a rather woolly use of the English language. However, the description and word "underage" is that actually used by the NY Times. What it means, of course, is that two of the six were too young to be charged as adults.
They were, in fact, 17 years of age. In Greece, according to https://www.cairn.info/revue-internationale-de-droit-penal-2004-1-page-355.htm "the age of full adult criminal majority is eighteen years of age". So it's not difficult to see why the NYT used the term "underage".
Anyway, I've revised the sentence accordingly. Unfortunately, precision and concision do not always go hand in hand. StefanosPavlos (talk) 08:02, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
Attempt to do Wikipedia outreach here
[edit]- commons:Category:Distribution of Internet in a Box in Moria, Greece
- meta:Grants:Project/Rapid/zidovetz/offlinewikipediaingreece
The Wikimedia Foundation denied the funding request. Wikimedia Medicine had one of our own go there and deploy meta:Internet in a Box instances loaded with Wikipedia medical content that we packaged and translated. I looked everywhere I knew to look online in 2017 and I could not even find Internet mentions that this place existed.
We have kept doing these medical outreach projects in other places. Looking back I am glad we have some documentation but wish we had more.
