The surname 'Moore' is English but it is most common in Ireland,The British Isles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.27.230.242 (talk) 19:13, 14 October 2009 (UTC) It's probably only a surname in Ireland because of the hundreds of thousands of English colonists that settled in Ireland over a span of 800 years109.154.232.109 (talk) 18:27, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

and what about anglicizing of Mohr?

[edit]

OK, "Mohr" is of German origin, but is it possible that some people (being illiterate and having to give their name to, say a census taker or a recorder of deeds) ended up having Mohr anglicized to Moore? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.63.16.20 (talk) 17:02, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
