[edit]More Trivia: In Tom Robbins' book "Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas," the character Larry Diamond travels to Timbuktu under the assumed name Mookie Blaylock. Robbins is a Seattle native, so this may have been in homage to fellow Seattlites Pearl Jam.
Mookie?
[edit]I thought that Pearl Jam named their album "10" after Earl "the Pearl" Monroe. I'll look for a link.206.190.137.34 (talk) 15:30, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
mookie, most fun i ever had
[edit]i had the incredible good fortune to play with mookie at garland granger recreation center on several saturday mornings. for an average talent basketball player who played small college ball and in gyms across the country, i can honestly say. the most fun i ever had playing the game was a particular saturday morning when, fortunate to be on mookie's team, we controollled the court for the entire morning. this was before his time at midland, oklahoma and in the pros.
mookie was the best i ever played with. he brought the game up to a point where it was almost spiritual that saturday. how unfortunate they tried to make hime into a bad guy at the end of his carrer when he played golf instead of going to practice for the warriors--maybe he was tired after all those years!!!!!!!!!!
i can still see the play when mookie stole the ball from the villanova point guard in the wide open court as he dribbled up at half court. caught the ball with both hands as it bounced on one of his dribbles and took it the other way. watching the game on my couch, alone, i jumped for joy and spun around--absolutely the most exciting play i ever witnessed.
mookie, if you read this, hope you are enjoying a healthy and pleasant retirement. 98.215.139.229 (talk) 18:13, 12 December 2010 (UTC)
Pearl Jam was not "forced to change the name" and "settle" for naming their first album "10". This needs to be removed. In the following article, Jeff Ament explains where the name came from. He also states Mr. Blaylock was "cool" with it.

This "claim" needs to be removed.

Serious accident
[edit]Blaylock was in a serious crash in Clayton County, GA just south of Atlanta on Friday May 31. He is on life support, but has NOT been pronounced dead. I do have this info first hand (I work for one of the local network affiliates). --mhking (talk) 23:11, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
