Separately noteworthy
[edit]The Moody's and Moody's Analytics pages are different, with 99% different content. The "Moody's" page focuses on the Moody's Investor Services business and the "Moody's Analytics" page focuses on the Moody's Analytics business. As indicated on the Moody's Corporation website, these are distinct businesses. The difference between the two is that Moody's Analytics provides risk management software (similar firms are Algorithmics, Oracle, Sungard, etc) while Moody's Investor Services provides credit rating (similar firms are Standard and Poors, Fitch Ratings) -- Redraiders203 (talk) 18:07, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

- Yes, as reviewing administrator, I could see it is clearly a separate company--the delete tag might have been placed without considering the articles carefully enough. It remains possible to merge the two articles, but in the meantime I added language to clarify the relationships However, the article needed a great deal of editing to remove promotional material and lists of officers beyond the one or two most senior. The other article needed some editing also, to format it for a clearer presentation, and I did that also. Please do not add the promotional material back. DGG ( talk ) 00:39, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the assistance. This was my first article and I tried to make it neutral. The changes make it a clearer article and I will not add the promotional material back as I respect Wikipedia for the neutral services and educational material it provides the public. --Redraiders203 (talk) 16:25, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Disclosure before editing
[edit]I am noting here, as I have on the Moody's Corporation discussion page, that I am about to make a couple of small changes to this article, which I believe to be unambiguously beneficial, and almost certainly can be considered non-controversial edits. The reason I mention the fact is because I have a potential conflict of interest with Moody's, as they have asked me to see how this and other articles about the company can be improved. At a later time I will probably have more substantial changes, but my plan for anything much more substantial will be to ask for input and seek consensus for them rather than making direct edits first. Don't hesitate to reach me at my discussion page if you have any questions. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 20:59, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
New Moody's Analytics version
[edit]To any editor who may be watching this page: for several months I have worked on researching and writing a new draft of the Moody's article, which included a section dedicated to Moody's Analytics. Following discussion on the Moody's Talk page, I have now split that article into three, one of which is a draft I would like to propose as a new version of this article. This draft is posted to a subpage of my userspace here: User:Mysidae/Moody's_Analytics. I would like to invite comment on it from anyone interested in this article, with the goal of replacing the current article with the new one, if there is consensus that it is an improvement and it is ready.
It is important that I mention that I am work with Moody's, and that I am fully aware of Wikipedia's COI rules, so it is my goal to seek a general consensus from editors about replacing the current article with the one I've prepared.
The new version is quite a bit longer than the current, and incorporates information on the organization's history from the current article as well as adding carefully researched new information on its operations. My draft aims to provide a more thorough description of what the company does. And because I do not seek to preserve the awards section, I think the proposed replacement is, if anything, less promotional than the current.
Although I have received some supportive and constructive comments from editors who viewed the draft when it was still part of the Moody's draft I originally proposed on the Moody's Talk page, I would like to invite other editors to discuss this version as well. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 22:33, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Query about recent edits
[edit]Approximately two weeks ago, an unregistered editor added some promotional-sounding material to this article. Although I do represent Moody's on Wikipedia, I believe it is possible that an employee of the company has taken it upon themselves to add this material. The promotional material was removed by CorporateM, however they also made some additional changes with this edit, regarding which I have concerns. In the introduction, details were removed explaining the company's activities, leaving the emphasis in the introduction now on the company's subsidiaries rather than providing an adequate overview of what it does. Also, I am unsure why the details regarding the credit risk assessment software were removed from the top of the "History" section, as this information is relevant and informative to readers.
I have two queries about these changes. First, I wish to ask whether some of the information that was written in a promotional way could be restored, if third-party sources are used and it was rewritten to be non-promotional. Secondly, it would be helpful to understand why the information from the introduction and "History" was removed by CorporateM and to open discussion about replacing this into the article if there is consensus that this is useful to readers.
Additionally, a month ago, another unregistered editor also rearranged the article, removing the previous "Background" and "Operations" headings and organizing the material under new headings titled "History" and "Products". Although I am open to other ways of organizing the material, the previous headings created sections of roughly equal lengths, whereas the majority of information now appears under the "History" heading and there is little under "Products". Meanwhile, the heading "Products" may mislead or confuse readers, as Moody's Analytics offers both products and services. I wish to seek input from other editors as to whether the article could be better organized under alternative headings. Because I am affiliated with Moody's, I prefer not to make any changes myself, and wish for another editor to provide their thoughts. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 21:51, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Adding "and services" to the sub-head is an easy and obvious fix I have now made. History is the appropriate section-title, unless the article is on something besides the company. For example, if the article was on a product, we would add the company information as Background.
- In general I would prefer not to work with other PR people like this, however I should repair it if my deletions were too aggressive. I scour for articles that mention promotional phrases like "industry-leading" and often make split-second cuts, but you'd need to be more specific on what material is contested before I revert it or provide rationale. CorporateM (Talk) 21:59, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you, I understand your suggestion that "History" is an appropriate title, and I do think another update to re-organize the page would be appropriate. If you do not wish to continue working on this article I do understand that as well. I can seek input from other editors as I have done before, however, I would like to know if you will reconsider your changes to remove key company information from the introductory section and the mention of credit risk assessment software from the "History" section. This is important information describing the services Moody's Analytics provides. If you will change this, I am grateful, however if you do not respond I will seek assistance elsewhere. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 16:17, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- It's difficult to tell what text you're referring to. It would be best if you pasted the actual text you want restored on Talk. CorporateM (Talk) 16:27, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Certainly. From your single edit on 2 March, the following relevant information was removed from the lead paragraph, in bold:
- It performs economic research related to credit analysis, performance management, financial modeling, structured analysis and financial risk management. Moody's Analytics also offers software and consulting services, including proprietary economic models and software tools, as well as professional training for the financial services sector, particularly risk management accreditation. The company also provides quantitative analysis and credit risk management tools.
- From the "History" section, you removed, in bold:
- In 1995, Moody's Corporation started a business unit providing quantitative analysis services, including credit risk assessment software and services, called Moody's Risk Management Service (MRMS).
- No justification was given for these deletions, however all of this is accurate, relevant information about the company, and I would appreciate it if you will reconsider the deletion and replace it in the article. Many thanks, Mysidae (talk) 15:10, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
- When there is a long list of products, markets, industries, etc. it is generally much better to summarize and use examples, especially in the Lead. However it would have been better if I repaired it, rather than just chopping about. The challenge is to summarize in a way that includes all of Moody's product areas, without necessarily listing them out specifically. I have restored the software mention and tweaked the Lead. Update the logo in the Infobox company
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Similar to the requests made on the Moody's Ratings and Moody's Corporation page, I am making the request for a change to the latest logo. Earlier this year[1][2] [3] [4] in March the organization underwent a rebrand that I was a part of. I am only requesting that the updated and correct logo be used. The one currently there is no longer in use. It is freely available to media and editorial purposes, those materials can be found here under the Media Kit section.
In the media kit download the following file should be used for the Moody's Analytics entry:

- Thank you for this. The other two pages seem to be updated appropriately and I see the change in the page history, but the live version seems to be lagging? Culver King (talk) 03:56, 28 October 2024 (UTC)
- I see why it's not showing. Apparently a bot decided it was Non Free content violation after you made the change. Not sure why the bot flagged this page but not the other three. Culver King (talk) 00:32, 29 October 2024 (UTC)

Roll back bot flag of recent logo change
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
The change made by @Encoded was correct, but then flagged by a BOT. Requesting the BOT change to be rolled back. The other two pages (Moody's and Moody's Ratings) were not flagged by the BOT. Thank you
