Overall: No QPQ required as this submission is their 5th DYK. Article is new enough and long enough. It is neutral and plagiarism free. The article is well sourced, but many of the citations need to be expanded - nine just have a title "archive.ph" but actually lead to different sources. Please could you fill in the references more fully? Lajmmoore (talk) 06:54, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
whoops! i had known that en wikipedia followed u.s. copyright law regardless of the fop laws of other countries, but had forgotten that this did not allow the free use of images of sculptures. the monument was completed in 1982, so i do not believe its copyright has expired yet. i have removed the image from the hook. thanks for catching that, theleekycauldron! dying (talk) 08:27, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
it has just occurred to me that ukrainian banknotes are considered in the public domain, so i am assuming that an image of one featuring the monument should be suitable for a dyk hook. is this correct, theleekycauldron? assuming that it is, i have added the image of one such banknote to the hook. note that i have used "(depicted)" as per this diff on wp:errors regarding a tfa blurb, but am unfamiliar with whether dyk follows this practice. Lajmmoore, i do not know if an altered hook has to be approved by the original reviewer, but am pinging you just in case.promoters, please note that the newly added image has not been approved.dying (talk) 10:17, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks theleekycauldron - I didn't know that about Ukraine. It occurs to me dying that perhaps the image might work better if the monument is cropped from the banknote - that might make it clearer to viewers? Happy to approve the revised hook. Lajmmoore (talk) 11:47, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Monument to the Founders of Kyiv, on a Ukrainian banknote
Lajmmoore, i had the same thought about cropping the image, but i admittedly have yet to figure out how to create a new image file that is a cropped version of an existing one, and i had felt that the aspect ratio of the uncropped image allowed for a longer caption without making it look cluttered. however, since you also feel that the hook might be improved with a crop, i made a mock-up of how it might look like cropped, using a css-based template and a rough estimate of the size the dyk image template would use for the cropped image. (the css-based template used here automagically frames the image, though the frame obviously wouldn't appear on the main page.) i shortened the caption so that it wouldn't take up five lines (or more), and it turned out better than i had envisioned. what are your thoughts? if you prefer the cropped version, i can submit a request at the graphics lab. dying (talk) 01:09, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Comment : I like it. I've been trying to figure out a way to add some humor to the hook, perhaps by mentioning that the collapse happened 1528 years after Kyiv was founded. It isn't coming together for me, but I'll keep it in mind. Anyway, I do like it. Radzy0 (talk) 00:42, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
