Utility suit

[edit]

Someone needs to add under the (big events) section a paragraph/bullet about Bridgewater Telephone Co. v. Monticello, No. 86-CV-08-4555, or rather, the incident where Monticello residents voted to install a municipal 50mbps fiber optics line when neither of the two ISPs that service the town offered to install it, and said if they ever did it wouldn't be any time soon. One of the ISPs sued when Monticello was about to put it in. Minnesota Supreme Court ruled that the internet was a public utility and as such Monticello was right. Links for citations:

Article Style

[edit]

The introductory section reads kind of like an advertisement. Was it copied from the city website? The slant isn't that bad, but should still be reworded to read like an encyclopedia instead of an ad. 173.160.118.137 (talk) 22:53, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
