Should the winners lists be here?
[edit]The winners lists are enormous. Should they be in separate articles? I'm also changing this from a stub to a start class article. JASpencer (talk) 16:10, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
Missoula County
[edit]It appears somebody mistook Missoula County as being Sentinel High School. Sentinel didn't open until 1965, and Hellgate High School was the only other Missoula public high school prior to the opening of Sentinel. All of Missoula County state titles were credited to Sentinel prior to 1965, but unless I am mistaken all those state titles should be credited to Hellgate. I made the change and to avoid any confusion I changed pre-1965 titles to Hellgate as opposed to Missoula County. Chilcokr (talk) 15:52, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Turns out I am partially mistaken. The Missoula County titles should in fact be credited to Sentinel, but all Missoula titles should be credited to Hellgate. Sentinel did open in 1956 as Missoula County High School, and changed to its current name in 1965. By looking back at the sports that existed prior to 1965 I only see one Missoula County state title and that is 1957 in Football. I will credit that title to Sentinel. --Chilcokr (talk) 16:02, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Never mind, there were no playoffs in 1957 for football, even though Missoula County is credited as being the state champion in the MHSA archives. --Chilcokr (talk) 16:04, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
