Band

[edit]

I deleted the content about the band Monroe, since it seems to be unworthy of inclusion into an encylopedia. It seems to be either a vanity article or linkspam. The deleted content read:

Monroe is a widely popular northern NJ-based glam rock band of the 1970's and 1980's. Founded by lead singer Billy C., the band also included Kenny O'Connor (drums), Richie Pilger (guitar), and Steve St. James (bass). Later bassists included Glen Moore, Al Aymar and Rick Lehland. Known for flamboyant costumes, guitar spins and precision choreography, the band frequently sold out 2,000 capacity nightclubs on the East Coast. Their most famous single, "Won't Last Forever", was regularly featured on local music tv channel U68. The band took its name from 1950's film legend Marilyn Monroe.

Lead singer Billy C. later became known as Billy Monroe. He is currently the owner of Screamin' Ink tattoo & body piercing studio in Fair Lawn, NJ, as well as a member of the prestigous Beatniks car club. He owns a 1951 Mercury.

People and things <snip>

   * Monroe, glam rock band of the 1970's & 1980's (not to be confused with later one-hit-wonder band The Monroes)

Google searches for [1] and [2] turn up 0 hits. If Monroe is actually a notable band, it should be recreated at Monroe (band). thejabberwock 19:02, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Surname section

[edit]

The surname section list two prominent people with the Monroe name, then links to another page which has two dozen names, including the two on the main page. I think this looks confusing. I propose the the two names on the lead page be removed, since they are also on the linked page. BuffaloBob (talk) 13:48, 1 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Their being no further discussion I will make the change. BuffaloBob (talk) 13:11, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
