[edit]I know there is debate about the money maker effect. I want to say mike sexton claims that the WPT does not get enough credit for making poker popular during the 03 era. In addition, Howard Lederer predicted a boom in poker before the money maker effect. He was commentating a final table match before the boom, I don't remember the specifics of the hand, but during HU a player bet with top pair and a guy flat called with mid pair, Lederer predicted that if an Ace came one the turn the tournament would be over giving both players two pair. An ace came on the tournament and the chip leader won the tournament with top two pair. Later, Lederer commented that he thought that poker on TV could flourish. I believe Ledered said all of this on an old poker road radio episode.
- Please note I have moved the above unsigned comment to a proper place on the page.-- — Keithbob • Talk • 14:33, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
Merge article with "Poker Boom?"
[edit]This article and the article on the Poker boom are very similar; would it be a good idea if this article were to be merged? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 21:05, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- As long as the lead sentence uses Moneymaker Effect as a synonym for a boom, then it should be merged. If the article's scope was reduced to be focused only on Moneymaker, I could see keeping it, but this article just smacks of slang for poker boom. I'd support you merging it into the boom article. 2005 (talk) 00:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
