The result of the move request was: moved to option 2 —usernamekiran (talk) 09:01, 26 May 2022 (UTC)
- Mohamed Omar (soccer) → Mohamed Omar (Canadian soccer)
- Mohamed Omar (footballer) → Mohammed Omar (Qatari footballer)
- Mohammad Omar (footballer) → Mohammad Omar (Emirati footballer)
- Muhammad Omar (footballer) → Muhammad Omar (Pakistani footballer)
– Discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#How different do article names need to be? is yielding a rapid consensus that these minor spelling differences should require further disambiguation. It was also noted that Mohamed Omar (footballer) first name is spelled with two M's in the article and by his club team, so I've used the new spelling here. I propose two options: Nationality (as all earned international caps for their national team for their birth nation (apart from the first) and YOB.
- Option 1
Mohamed Omar (soccer) → Mohamed Omar (Canadian soccer)
Mohamed Omar (footballer) → Mohammed Omar (Qatari footballer)
Mohammad Omar (footballer) → Mohammad Omar (Emirati footballer)
Muhammad Omar (footballer) → Muhammad Omar (Pakistani footballer)
- Option 2
Mohamed Omar (soccer) → Mohamed Omar (soccer, born 1999)
Mohamed Omar (footballer) → Mohammed Omar (footballer, born 1983)
Mohammad Omar (footballer) → Mohammad Omar (footballer, born 1976)
Muhammad Omar (footballer) → Muhammad Omar (footballer, born 1990)

- Comment My personal preference as nominator is Option 1. I know wp:footy tends to like birth year (and I used to vote like that as well), but I feel nationality is much clearer to a reader and is also consistent with WP:NCSP, especially when majority of these players played for national teams. RedPatch (talk) 12:25, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Comment Surely (Canadian soccer player), etc., is correct, not just (Canadian soccer)? Seasider53 (talk) 13:23, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- @Seasider53: I proposed that once on another article and was told we don't use 'soccer player' as a disambiguator for whatever strange reason. RedPatch (talk) 13:57, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- I think there's a guideline somewhere about avoiding double worded disambiguates where possible. GiantSnowman 10:04, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

- Option 2 per the standard modus operandi. Though, if we do reach a consensus to disambiguate per country I wouldn't be against that. Nehme1499 15:27, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Option 2 in case more footballers of the same name comes from one of these countries for future proof reasons. Wouldn't mind option 1 for now judging that the years of birth is relatively spread out. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 22:01, 14 May 2022 (UTC)
- Option 2 as year of birth is standard; but create redirects from the option 1 options. GiantSnowman 10:04, 15 May 2022 (UTC)
- Option 2 is more future-proof in case another one with same name and nationality comes along but as per GiantSnowman, I'd do a redirect also from option 1.— NZFC(talk)(cont) 00:52, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
- Option 2 for me.--Ortizesp (talk) 19:04, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
