Confusing
[edit]I find it confusing that the article says that the MAUP is due to "two separate effects that usually occur simultaneously during the analysis of aggregated data." and then goes on to say "First" ... but never mentions "Second".
I think the definition of MAUP is too specific and should be expanded. The MAUP is hardly unique to human geography. You can see the same problem in studying a forest using remotely sensed data, for instance, is a particular point in space forest? Depends on the resolution of the sensor (and your definition of forest, but that's another article). -zedboy
- Agreed. What's with this article? Seems like there's been good content in the past, even if a bit technical. Its current state is awful, though, so I'm going to slap at least a generic lead on it.Matttoothman (talk) 14:50, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
- It seems that the 06 September edit gutted the article. Rather than deleting all of the content, I think we should have edited and sourced the material that we had.(User:flathers) 10:05, 07 April 2012 (PDT)
Why is "Representation Theory" listed as a related General Topic? It's not related at all! Eulerianpath (talk) 21:10, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
The article fails to define its subject: it merely states that MAUP is a source of bias, but presumably there are many (other) possible source of bias. The article fails to say what MAUP is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.234.224.230 (talk) 00:17, 27 November 2012 (UTC)
Gerrymandering
[edit]Seems to me that this article could use a link to the article on Gerrymandering (at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering ), since this is a high-stakes example of the areal unit problem with good discussion and examples. 192.0.148.24 (talk) 01:42, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
Abandoned user draft
[edit]A 2011 assignment project group drafted a new "Overview" section. Please would an interested editor assess that section at User:Geo arbo/GES 679/FP v1, incorporate what is useful, and then blank the user page as WP:STALEDRAFT? – Fayenatic London 10:26, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
