Sources and terms
[edit]I'm having a hard time finding good external links on this subject. Also, I believe the word also refers to the middle finger... Any Arabic speakers are welcome to add this meaning if it is the case. Thanks. --LeoNomis 11:19, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- You're probably having a problem finding links on this subject because you're looking for the wrong word. The word you need to look for is not "wasat" --- it's "wasatiyyah" (wasaṭīyyah) (وسطية). I'd go ahead and make the correction for you, but I'm not sure how to go about correcting the title of your article --- perhaps you know how to do that.--Akhooha (talk) 23:31, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
- You both appear to be correct. Bearian (talk) 18:44, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Merge proposal with Moderate Muslim
[edit]Tomastvivlaren proposed merging this page with Moderate Muslim in February 2020.
- Oppose. This page appears to be about the concept of moderation within Islam. I don't have prior knowledge as to whether there are good sources on this topic or whether this is a well-developed concept within Islam, but the first three cited sources are enough to persuade me that this is potentially a notable topic. There is no reason to merge discussion of a concept within Islam (this article) with Moderate Muslim, which is about a modern dichotomy of moderate vs. extremist groups within Islam.
