Distinct culture
[edit]As I said at Talk:Timucua, I don't think we should overemphasize how distinct archaeologists are saying the Mocama were, compared to other Timucua-speaking peoples. This seems to be based on the news articles that have come out recently, but to my mind they aren't clear on what the archaeologists are saying. As far as culture goes, as far as I know, the Mocama practiced a few different archaeological cultures, but at the time of European colonization, they shared the same dialect and many of them were united politically under the same chief. The new research may have challenged this conception, but the news articles aren't really clear.--Cúchullain t/c 13:21, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
