The result of the move request was: Move. Jafeluv (talk) 22:30, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moapa Town, NevadaMoapa, Nevada – The census-designated place is named Moapa Town, but the actual unincorporated town, as defined by the county commission, is Moapa. (See the town board bylaws, which discuss "the unincorporated town of Moapa".) The postal address is "Moapa, NV", and newspapers refer to "Moapa" (e.g. [1] [2] [3] [4]). The only source I see that refers to "Moapa Town" is the Census Bureau.

Nyttend undid my move, arguing that the article is about the CDP, the name of which is clearly Moapa Town. I would argue that the article should be about the town, not the CDP. (Or more exactly, should be primarily about the town, discussing the CDP only where it's relevant, i.e. for the Census statistics.) If you divorce the two notions, the CDP isn't even notable. It's just a bucket created for statistical reporting purposes, as the Census Bureau itself says. The town of Moapa, on the other hand, is a defined government entity.
