... that doctors said current NFL player Mitchell Agude would live the rest of his life in a vegetative state after falling into a coma following a skateboarding accident, but soon after he woke up fine?Source: Los Angeles Times ("Like the other kids at Corona's Santana Park, Agude shunned a helmet in favor of a snapback hat. It looked cool but provided no protection when he fell off his Rip-Stik and slammed the back of his head into a slab of concrete. By the time his mother reached his bedside at Loma Linda University Medical Center, Mitchell was in a coma ... She was told her son was never going to be the same, that he would spend the rest of his life in a vegetative state. 'I went to the bathroom and I kept on praying - I kept on praying! - and my faith is what got me through,' Grace said ... Early the next morning ... Mitchell awoke with a frenzy, ripping the medical wires off his body. A few hours later, he responded to commands that gauged his cognitive function. His breathing tube was removed. Lab work was remarkably normal. An MRI exam showed the swelling had subsided. Doctors said the boy could go home. Only a few days after entering the hospital on the verge of death, or at least a life permanently altered, Mitchell exited under his own power, not even requiring the courtesy wheelchair.")- Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Jug Bennett (4/7)

- ALT1: ... that although doctors said Mitchell Agude would live the rest of his life in a vegetative state following a skateboarding accident at age nine, he recovered after three days and now plays in the NFL?
- @Premeditated Chaos: Thank you, that reads much better. BeanieFan11 (talk) 14:00, 12 August 2023 (UTC)
- New enough in mainspace and long enough. QPQ present. Only approving ALT1 as it reads so much better; hook fact checks out. No textual issues. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 18:43, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Sammi Brie, BeanieFan11, and Premeditated Chaos: Well done, interesting and cutting it close: we are at 199 characters with ALT1! Bruxton (talk) 18:00, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
