Page Name

[edit]

In the current AFD for this page, Richard Cavell's proposes that the name should be Mitchell Brown (Australian rules football player). WP:AFL has generally used (footballer), (Australian footballer) and (Australian rules footballer) as the three main disambiguation styles, with (Australian footballer) being the preferred option ("Australian football" is actually the official name of the sport... "rules" is just added for diambiguation from soccer in Australia). To complicate matters, another player, the Eagle's Mitchell Brown, already has his page at Mitchell Brown (Australian rules footballer). Having two players with virtually the same disambiguation, just randomly picked is against the naming conventions. We'll need to find out their middle names or use (, born 19XX) to correctly disambiguate them, as we shouldn't really have two different players at Mitchell Brown (Australian footballer) and Mitchell Brown (Australian rules footballer). And should it be Mitch or Mitchell? But that's all work post AFD, if it survives. The-Pope (talk) 13:25, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree - why not just Mitchell Brown (Geelong footballer) and Mitchell Brown (West Coast footballer)? --Deansherr (talk) 08:49, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because next year they might change teams.The-Pope (talk) 15:43, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
