Notes and Names
[edit]Explanations for my edits:
- The northern terminus is located within the city limits of Chesterfield.
- The road is not really an expressway; there are many traffic signals, and numerous local roads intersect directly.
- I put that a citation is need for what I added regarding the names, because I can't be completely sure that there are no more sections (of the present Highway 141) left with the names Meramec Station, New Smizer Mill, or Vandover, although none seem to be shown on either St. Louis County's GIS site [1] or Google Earth. For example, Meramec Station explicitly exists separately from 141 around Manchester and Twin Oaks. The entire situation is complicated by the derivative names of former roads and current outer roads, such as "Old Woods Mill Rd," "South Woods Mill Rd," "Old Meramec Station Rd", etc. It still confuses me even though I've lived very close to the road for the past 18 years. - I was in St. Louis this week for a class, in fact it was at the fire station just off Highway 141 in Fenton. My Rand-McNally map called Highway 141 "New Smizer Mill Road" and I noticed that wasn't right, the streets signs simply called it "Route 141". I wanted to do some more driving around some of these highways (I've been on 141 up to Valley Park, but I would like to go to the northern end sometime), but unfortunately, I was in a city vehicle and my driving was somewhat restricted. Vaporware expansion plans
[edit]As far as I'm aware so far there's still no plans by MO-DOT to expand US-141 North of Olive / US-340. Maryland Heights, Chesterfield, and other cities in the area all want it connected to Maryland Heights Expressway, but it's still vaporware. Jon 15:04, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Also, does someone have a source on the SPUI for Olive? This may be vaporware as well. Jon 15:09, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's in the East-West Gateway Council of Governments 2011-2020 plan. See the St. Louis Post Dispatch article [2] on the topic. Also, I'm pretty sure the SPUI is planned, but I have no source. --AcuteThinker 03:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
mile column in table
[edit]I'm thinking the mile column in the table should probably be deleted. There's no milage markers on the road and no exit numbers for the exits. (By contrast there are both for 370.) In addition, there are several at grade intersections along this route. Jon (talk) 18:08, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
