Source about this being Cruise's last M:I movie

[edit]

The sources linked seems very sketchy to me. It seems to be an unreputable source with spelling errors, personal opinions of the author, and a vague reference to the "source" from whom this rumour came. Is this really the best source we have for this claim, because if so it should be removed immediately from the wiki article. If there are better or more reputable sources for this, please add them instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.238.45.162 (talk) 03:40, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, "Small Screen" doesn't sound reliable at all. I have removed the information. InfiniteNexus (talk) 05:21, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Even then, I think this would be Tom Cruise's last film as Ethan Hunt imo, as I think Dead Reckoning would be Ethan Hunt's last misison. Mattgelo (talk) 04:45, 6 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now that the title of this movie has been revealed, it's safe to say that this is probably Tom Cruise's final time playing Ethan Hunt. So thus, I think there should be a "final installment" label for this movie. Mattgelo (talk) 14:39, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We don't do "safe to say". We do "confirmed". A final installment label would be speculation.--User:Khajidha (talk) (contributions) 16:52, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

About the filming process being wrapped

[edit]

I don't think that link or topic is accurate as it suggests filming wrapped only in the UK and not in total. McQuarrie only stated before the year's end in late 2022 that he still had two more large action sequences to film and made a post on his Instagram page that they had finished filming a sequence in South Africa, wished all of the crew involved a happy new year and that filming was to continue "on the other side" of the new year. I'll be editing that, with all due respect. --ZeroMinusTen (talk) 08:19, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rebecca Ferguson confirmed?

[edit]

Are there any sources confirming her involvement in Part 2? 24.36.36.117 (talk) 02:55, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently not. Your just going to have to accept that Faust isn't coming back. This isn't a comic book franchise or STAR WARS where they "return somehow". Maxcardun (talk) 13:52, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

title

[edit]

why are we calling this "Untitled eighth Mission: Impossible film", the previous title has "Part One" in the name, the end screen of the film says "End Part One", and articles cited here call the sequel part two. A footnote indicating that the title is speculative might be in order, but the page should be renamed Dead Reckoning Part Two. jonas (talk) 05:18, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Jonas1015119 Because there are sources mentioning that the subtitle has been dropped:
Variety: "Mission: Impossible" will arrive on the big screen with a new name. Paramount and Skydance are dropping the second half of its title, formerly "Dead Reckoning Part Two," though the sequel will directly follow the events of 2023’s "Dead Reckoning Part One." (used in this article)
Entertainment Weekly: Previously titled Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two, Paramount has stripped the film of its ungainly subtitle, though it will still serve as a direct sequel to this year's Dead Reckoning Part One.
(It seems like any outlets that published their article before Variety (e.g. THR, The Wrap) wrote the name change as speculation, and any outlets that published after that wrote the change as confirmed (e.g. EW, Motion Pictures Association))
Technically speaking, it is a sequel of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (and it is noted in the first paragraph). However, the subtitle was dropped (hence making it untitled), so I think the article title should be reflected as such. Jolly1253 (talk) 10:12, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thanks, that certainly is an odd choice to make after already releasing a movie that says Part One all over -- jonas (talk) 20:48, 27 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It was most likely because Part One flopped so badly after Barbenheimer. InfiniteNexus (talk) 05:36, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Filming after the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike

[edit]

We now know that the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike ended on November 9, 2023. However, there are no sources stating that filming resumed. Is there WP:NORUSH to state when filming would resume? The Media Expert (talk) 23:20, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Music

[edit]

Please add a reliable source to confirm Lorne Balfe composing the score for the film. The Media Expert (talk) 19:56, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:44, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source for runtime?

[edit]

The infobox states the runtime as 177 minutes, is there a source that confirms this? I can’t find any, and besides it seems very early for it to be available already. Obviously if there’s no credible source it should be removed. Dave Lars (talk) 14:14, 11 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Returns from...

[edit]

Is it entirely necessary to mention in the cast section where everyone is "returning from" all the time? Seems a bit excessive, and it seems to me that this is the only sequel article that is doing something like this. Maxcardun (talk) 13:54, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
