MetLife Stadium has been CONFIRMED by MUO for 2013, source in article--Johnny421 (talk) 10:31, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
- Missosology is not an acceptable source, no matter how you believe it to be, given it is a forum thus unreliable given rumors found there are without valid and reliable sources. Furthermore, it is illogical and counter-intuitive to announce the venue for 2013 when the venue for 2012 hasn't been announced yet (this late). Also, your cited page has expired, rendering it useless. GrayFullbuster (talk) 14:55, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Sources, please!
This early on in the year, rumors and speculation could be easily turned into false facts on beauty pageant forums and blogs. such as Global Beauties, Missossology, livewireworld, and the like. (It's painfully obvious that the quality control on some of those sites are lacking, but I digress.) Thus, I ask contributors for the following:
- References reliable news sites - A lot of the sources on the page are currently from the above mentioned sites, which I will strive to change over the next few days. The lack of proper sources AND the conflict of information on the above mentioned sources makes it extremely easy for users to edit war over who won which pageant. Please read WP:NEWSORG, WP:NEWSBLOG and other related articles. Personally, I look for news sites via Google News, and, most of the time, these are reliable.
- Proper citations - I cannot stress this enough. Having proper citations helps immensely. Please read WP:CITE, especially WP:CITEHOW. Information such as what site it's from, the title of the article, date of publication, and the author should be included as much as possible. The editing tools in the menu bar above the edit box has a "Cite" menu, and the Templates drop-down should have the proper format you need. It's really simple stuff.
This is all pretty basic stuff that everyone needs to know in order to make Wikipedia reliable and accurate. I hope everyone is in agreement to this. Thanks. Sang'gre Habagat (talk) 02:37, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
- P.S. Foreign, non-English news sources are perfectly fine. Google Translate usually would help verify simple facts such as whether the article really does say that a particular contestant is competing or not. Sang'gre Habagat (talk) 02:40, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
About Miss France.
1. Miss France is Marine Lorphelin, she have the task of represent France in Miss World and Miss Universe.
2. Miss Universe don't have a date still.
3. If Miss Universe date to be in conflict with Miss France date, then, the french representative will be another lady; meanwhile Ms. Lorphelin is the french representative at Miss Universe.
4. Finally, all the years has changes, the ladies on the list in this moment are the official representatives from their countries at Miss Universe 2013, but could be change!. Nothing it's sure until the pageant begins.

Bahrain wouldn't be able to compete anyways even if true due to the swimsuit round being a barrier to her Muslim culture as well as possible conflicts with the Israeli delegate. Cheetah255 (talk) 22:27, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure that this as clear-cut as you make it out to be. The IP's edits look legitimate to me, which makes this a content dispute, and admins aren't allowed to discriminate between IPs and registered editors in content disputes. However, there was definitely edit-warring going on, and that needed to stop. So, I have fully protected the article for 1 week. This source posted by an IP seems legitimate and says that Bahrain will participate, and although the Google translation of the original source is hard to make out, my interpretation was that it also indicates that Bahrain will take part. That said, I may have made a mistake in my interpretation, and I don't really mind what goes in the article - I am just outlining my reasoning for the full protection. Let me know when you reach an agreement about the disputed content, and I'll lift the protection. In the meantime if you have small requests that are unrelated to the dispute, you can request them using the {{edit protected}} template. Also, feel free to ask if you have any questions about my actions. Best — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 13:51, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- As far I understood the source, the said representative from Bahrain will participate in a pageant in India which is something related to Miss World. But as far as I understood, there's no mention that she will participate in Miss Universe. And as it appears to be announced later than the news she will participate in Miss Universe, it should be given weight. GrayFullbuster (talk) 13:59, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Miss Kazakhstan
After careful research, i have come to this:
Aynur Toleuova is ineligible to compete in the Miss Universe 2013 pageant.
Miss Tolueova was crowned Miss Kazakhstan 2011 at age 16. Those competing in Miss Universe must be 18 years old by February 1st. Tolueova was born on February 4th, three days AFTER the cut-off date, rendering her ineligible.
So please DO NOT add Miss Tolueova to the delegates listing. Thank you Cheetah255 (talk) 01:10, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Height
Hi,
I beleive the contestant's heght it's a problem: every day someone change the height of a contestant with the wrong idea Miss Universe pageant it's a height's contest. The height is not considerated for the Miss Universe Organization at the record data anymore. I think is a irrelevant data.
I propose delete the contestant's height. I wait comments.--Alex Duilius (talk) 18:38, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- I removed the heights from the 2012 article last year for the exact same reason. Heights are irrelevant. They aren't even shown on the contestants' pages anymore. By all means, I support deleting that section. Mr. Gerbear (talk) 23:33, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- I concur. They're pretty much another cause of vandalism of these articles. IPs changing the heights of contestants. A list of the contestants names only is good enough for the article. GrayFullbuster (talk) 10:12, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
SOURCES
I don't understand.
Why Missosology forums are a reliable source, and pages like Globalbeauties, Times of Beauty and other not? I think we should to be more strict with that, missosology it's a terrible source! --Alex Duilius (talk) 04:00, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- Any type of forum that can be posted in by just whomever is not a reliable source, period. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 04:03, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
If the forum shows the actual winner, then let the source be. However, forums shouldn't be used to indicate future pageant dates unless they are correctly sourced. Snawple (talk) 07:29, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- I highly disagree. People on forums can just say anything they want without verifying. For example, they can say someone's the winner of a certain pageant, but nobody will be sure if it's a hoax or not unless there is an actual reliable source that says so. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 08:29, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- We can use them as starting points, then check reliable sources to see if they really are the winners. Otherwise, they should be removed if the only source are these pageant forums. GrayFullbuster (talk) 11:18, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
Why would they lie? These people LIVE to track pageant winners, so it would be highly unlikely that they would just make up a winner for their won amusement. Pus, some of these people actually watch live feeds of these pageants, which would technically make them the first to know who won what. --Snawple (talk) 21:34, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
- Because they can. Considering that the Miss Universe articles are always highly vandalized, we cannot trust these kinds of sources. There are always people, some of which could be from those forums, who are crazy fans or detractors of certain contestants or countries and add incorrect information here on Wikipedia. There are also times when UNCONFIRMED or speculative information is taken from that site and used here as a source. We cannot EVER use forums. It's policy. See WP:USERGENERATED. - Isn't it going to be a reality show? I can't find the dates, but I'm sure we'll only be able to confirm what country they'll represent in Miss U after the winner is announced. Mr. Gerbear|Talk 01:35, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Upcoming National Pageants
Please, don't add dates of national pageants if:
- the date is not confirmed.
- you use Missosology, or other forum, as source.
- the source is not exist anymore.
We should to be very careful with this info, and please, don't add it if not is a valid and confirmed source.
Some national organizations are doing castings, auditions and selecting girls for their competition; but, without a date, we should'nt add it.
Thanks.--Alex Duilius (talk) 21:38, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
WHY?
Why add the country to the delegates list before the delegate will be chosen?
I think it's a terrible behaviour. Some times the country it's add it 2 or 3 days after of the national pageant.
I bealive it's wrong. I invite to not do it anymore. Please, wait untill the delegate will be chosen.

I search at Miss Georgia official page and facebook, nothing; at Janeta Kerdikoshvilli facebook, nothing; and beauty pageants pages, nothing. I have reasons for think that's not true. The only page with a source was the own article at Wikipedia, and the source was MISSOSOLOGY FORUM, c'mon!
The last year was a hoax about Miss Kerdikoshvilli saying she was the georgian representative at Las Vegas and a fake twitter account was created; maybe the confusion it's for that. I think if she will be preparing for Miss Universe, then she don't did a casting for a pop group! I'm not convinced, and I think don't be add her again, until an official confirmation.

Puerto Rico last placed in 2011 so it should say "India and USA also placed as semifinalists last year" and the fact that says "China, Costa Rica and Ukraine last placed in 2011" should say "China, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, and Ukraine last placed in 2011" 74.32.7.118 (talk) 01:20, 12 November 2013 (UTC)
