Miss Costa Rica 2010 had been chosen. It's time to add the contestant at the list, thanks.
Just from MASWJ.
MASWJ (talk) 10:50, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
- Not done. Your request is not specific enough as it doesn't state who i should be adding as the Costa Rica contestant. Also, do you have a reliable source to accompany the addition? Excirial (Contact me,Contribs) 14:13, 17 April 2010 (UTC)
Miss Costa Rica's name is Marva Wright and the "Global Beauties" web site has a lead articaal on her

Cleaning this page up
Please remember Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a beauty pageant website. Please refrain from posting references from other contests like "Bolivia will compete in Miss Earth". Encyclopedias are supposed to reflect information on PAST and PRESENT events, and this page has been changed too many times with about 90% unsourced info which is why is a candidate for deletion. FUTURE events give room for too much speculation which does not meed the guidelines. Please just post verifiable info that is relevant to the encyclopedia and its readers (most of them don't care about pageant trivia... Wikipedia encourages NOT TO POST miscellaneous info irrelevant to the article)--Thanks, 201.227.132.16 (talk) 02:49, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Cleanup and Reference Improvement Templates
I re-added the cleanup and reference improvement templates that had been deleted by User:AnnLivinova without discussion. Per the AfD discussion on this article, there is agreement from multiple parties, even those who voted Keep, that this article is poorly sourced and needs to be cleaned up, so the tags should not be removed without major improvement to the article and discussion. There have been far too many unexplained reverts like this going on in this article. It already had to be protected because of edit warring, then the AfD template was removed by User:111.68.34.130, and now this. Most of these reversions are done by users whose contributions are solely to articles about beauty pageants, which makes me question the neutrality of their point of view. MISS PHILIPPINES UNIVERSE 2010 Maria Venus Raj
I took her out of the list, because she has not been given the crown back yet officially. She is still dethroned at the moment. And it is not clear if she can get the Philippines passport as it is combined with a lot other problems.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Bigb0x (talk • contribs) 12:21, 10 April 2010 (UTC)

PAGEANT DATE
The date cannot be posted as "Summer 2010" given that Summer takes place at different times all over the globe.201.227.132.16 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 08:59, 20 March 2010 (UTC).
I still don't understand why the pageant date is listed as TBC. TBC implies there is a tentative date in the mix that hasn't been confirmed by officials. I have not heard or seen a tentative date. The venue hasn't been announced. So I feel it should be TBA as is the case for the venue and presenters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.252.55.110 (talk) 12:08, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
ANTIGUA & BARBUDA
Hi!
The reference that have for Antigua and Barbuda is not valida, don't have a date, and don't have any word with relation Miss Universe Pageant.
Please, don't insist in put it. --Alex Duilius (talk) 04:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Competition Date
Various reliable sources, principal of which is Global Beauties, have already reported that the pageant will officially take place on 23 August 2010 in a yet-to-be-named venue hotel in Las Vegas, USA. Please stop editing the article to read that it will take place on October 31. There are no sources whatsoever that report this date, and this date is way outside of the MU's traditional and preferred spring/summer window. If you are merely playing around, don't do so at the expense of the article's integrity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.225.254 (talk) 02:04, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
Miss Universe Italy
I'm not sure who keeps adding that Raffaella Modugno is the Italian delegate, but it's inaccurate. As per this link from the official Miss Universe Italy website (http://iscrizioni.missuniverseitaly.it/) the winner will be crowned on June 6th in Taormina, Sicily.Fra77 (talk) 19:32, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
EXPECTED CONTESTANTS & WITHDRAWALS
A bunch of withdrawals were added in the most recent edits of this article. Although links were provided to support the claims made about these withdrawals, these links are either broken (such as the links provided for Guam [1] and Guyana [2]) or don't really say anything to confirm the withdrawal or non-participation this year (such as Iceland, Turks & Caicos, Vietnam). Some of these pageant websites have not been updated in months, and this shouldn't be taken as a confirmation of withdrawal (such as those for Iceland and Turks & Caicos). And it is also common for franchise holders to handpick delegates to Miss Universe in the event that a pageant cannot be held. Although Vietnamese regulations only authorize one national pageant to be hosted or organized annually, I don't think it precludes pageant franchise holders who weren't authorized to hold their own national pageant in a given year from handpicking delegates to send to other international pageants. This was witnessed last year when the Hoan Vu Company, the national franchise holder for Miss Universe in Vietnam, handpicked Võ Hoàng Yến, the first runner-up from the 2008 national contest, to be Vietnam's delegate to Miss Universe 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.104.225.254 (talk) 18:01, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Miss Korea 2009
Is confirmed, Kim Joo-ri will compete in Miss Universe 2010. Also, Kim Joo-ri denied rumor, it was she might won't compete Miss Universe 2010. Please don't change about her information. Cha Ye-lin who is First runner-up of the Miss Korea is already competed Miss Intercontinental 2009. She won't compete Miss Universe 2010. Do not put up reference of 'Pinoyexchange.com'. If Miss Korea Organization decide replace contestants, it's gonna be notice in Miss Korea official website. But it's not true. There is not exist any notice. The 'Pinoyexchange.com' of Miss Korea thread is not official references. DON'T PUT IT! PLEASE! --Spatronic (talk) 21:29, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
ENTRANTS
Umm, I have serious concerns with the number of entries. First, Gobal Beauty should not be speaking for 'Miss Universe' and should be site as a primary site when it comes to the number of participates. This site hasn't been updated since May and it is now late June! This should come directly from the Miss Universe Organization's page, Then it would be creditable. Next, it says that there will be 83 entrants. However, when reading the information, there are 84 listed. Also, many of the island nations and several of last year's participants are yet to confirm and NO it isnt too late to do so! Rumor is that there will be a couple of late entires but that is RUMOR just . We know that will be 80 plus so thats what should be stated in the opening paragraph and remain on this listing. The pagents actual registration date is the first week of August. It is then we will know the number of people there. PLEASE stop changing it and KEEP "CREDITABLE SOURCES"....80 PLUS ENTRANTS are expected and that is what it should say! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.189.160.21 (talk) 16:38, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Turks And Caicos
Turks and Caicos is not a withdraw for this year, because Miss Turks and Caicos in the last Miss Universe withdrew the pageant. This list only apply for nations who take part of the pageant last year and this not. In this case, T&C can't be considerated a withdraw for this year, because withdrew last year.--Alex Duilius (talk) 19:12, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Official Website
Respect the list with 84 contestants (at today, july 22).
The official website is still in construction and several delegates has not show in the contestants page, but exist the information from several press, media, newspapers and electronic media for determine that they will be in the competition.
The official website is not the only verifible source. Remember that.
--Alex Duilius (talk) 04:50, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- Do you have any reliable source for the assertion that the official website is incomplete? Can you prove that the assortment of sources cited for the list of 84 are not only reliable, but so reliable they are preferred over the official contest site? I fully realize the official site is not the only source of reliable information; if it were,we would not be able to provide any heights or home cities. But for information listed on the official site, that should be given preference to other sources, most of which don't appear to even be major news media, and quite a few of which are not in English, raising problems of accurate translation and transliteration. Currently there are only six countries in your list of 85 countries which are not on the MU site, with a possible open question on a seventh, Guadeloupe. Wikipedia suffers no more by waiting for official confirmation of entries, now that preparations for the event are far enough along that a list of contestants exists, than it does by posting unverified information from fan sites and needing to change it later.
- When I made the original changes to the list to bring it into conformity with the official site, I left the six missing countries at the bottom as comments, allowing quick insertion when they were confirmed. Instead of using this approach, you reverted all changes to the list, destroying other information which had been copied from the official site. Reconstructing those changes is far more time consuming than re-adding entries from the prepared comments that were still there.
- A related issue is format of the names. For names from non-English languages, I chose to leave glyphs and punctuation used in the native language sources, evan though not shown on the official site. This was primarily to avoid giving insult to natives of the countries involved, but if there is a good reason for replicating the "straight English" formats used by the pageant, I would have no objection. However, those changes seemed more controversial than simply conforming basic names and countries, so I think this needs discussion (or pointing to a relevant WP guideline) before making changes. 68.189.160.21 (talk) 23:33, 24 July 2010 (UTC)== Subjectivity /Objectivity ==
This entire page has become unrealiable and it wasn't intended to be that way when I CREATED IT LAST SUMMER with the announcement that the CAYMEN ISLANDS would not be participating in 2010. I have watched it for the last year and it seems like if the countries were not of Latino decent then they were not viable competetors. This PAGE was not intended to be a source of controveries! It is sad that one or two people have taken over the page and locked out the the person that created the page orginally. Talk about classless. The orignal site (MU) IS NOT the only verifiable or viable source of INFORMATION and therefore the person that went through and made these changes were wrong in doing so! Conformity does NOT equate VERIFIABILTY! It will not be official until August 1st, 2010 when the girls begin arrive and registering for the contest. The girls will continue to arrive up until the August 6th, 2010. I regret that I began this page because some of you aren't thinking about credibility but more on a personal selfish basis. For the one who creates the MU 2011....the Caymen Island has confirmed that they will participate and will hold the pagent at the end of September. http://www.caymannetnews.com/news-21639--1-1---.html and http://www.compasscayman.com/caycompass/2010/07/14/Miss-Cayman-meet-and-greet-tonight/ These are examples reliable sources! Miss Cayman Island is the FIRST official return of who are absent from 2010. The second article also states that the pagent will be in VIETNAM next year. So there is your location for the 2011 contest.
In closing, I was under the impression that Wikepedia was began to present OBJECTIVE not Subjective information. This page is clearly SUBJECTIVE and adds the saying that Wikepedia IS NOT a reliable source of information! Shame on you guys for putting this page in the category! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.189.160.21 (talk) 23:29, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Explaining my edits.
Just a quick explanation... yes I've culled a lot but it was necessary to comply with various Wikipedia policies/guidelines, particularly in relation to notability, original research and reliable sources. Much was more suited to a biography of the contestant or a note on the national pageant page. This is a Wikipedia article, not a fan page or the like and there are certain requirements for article standards - my edits are intended to bring this article closer in line. Most importantly, self published sources from sites like Global Beauties, Missosology & the like are not reliable sources. As a general rule, sites published on blogspot and wordpress aren't either. I've had a fair crack at replacing references with correct formatting and a news source etc however I will have to complete this another time. A final note - it does not matter that previous Miss Universe articles may not have been edited to these standards. That simply means that they are in need of work, not that a lesser standard is acceptable here. PageantUpdater talk • contribs 14:02, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- One of the problems of doing massive edits incorporating multiple types of changes is that you present other editors with a "take it or leave it" choice for the entire set. For instance, I disagree with your interpretation of WP:MOSFLAG, while agreeing that some of the forums and blogs are not reliable sources; I originally opted to temporarily forgo the flags for the greater good of improved sources (I've already explained my undo of your second version on my talk page), but it could have been easily predicted that someone would object to at least part of the changes and throw the whole thing out. And even though I agree some of the sources are questionable, given the information contained in the table columns they are somewhat better than nothing for simple auxiliary facts. (I haven't noticed a rush by The New York Times or TIME to publish the height and hometown of Miss Ghana or Miss Kazakhstan.) Might not the better approach have been to propose first, change later rather than making all the changes at once and posting a short note ex post facto? Fat&Happy (talk) 00:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'll admit that my take on WP:MOSFLAG may have been flawed and I accept your criticisms, I guess when I was editing it was just easier to get it all done in one go. Editors have removed flags from previous articles b/c of MOSFLAG and so I took it from there but later when I was looking at the page I admit it's not as clearcut as I would have thought. I'm happy to put the work in to put them back (although I do think it's more useful to have the country names etc linked to their articles (e.g. Miss Universe Australia, not just Australia) - got some but not all of that done last night. I guess flagicons + that would be the way to go. Hometowns can be referenced to the Miss Universe website if necessary, but I agree the heights are a problem. PageantUpdater talk • contribs 00:09, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I haven't checked them all, but on the ones I have looked at, there is a place for hometown but it's been left blank. It's been a while, but as I recall, that was also the status on the sister site for Miss USA, even at the end of the pageant. Fat&Happy (talk) 00:14, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm, just assumed they would be there. They definitely had them in for Miss USA. Anyway, apologies but now that I'm stuck at work I'm not going to be around to look into any of this further, will reply as needed when I get home tonight. PageantUpdater talk • contribs 00:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I knew I should have checked one last time before posting. Both Miss USA and Miss Teen USA are there now; I'm pretty sure neither was the last time I checked, near the end of the respective pageants, but I might be remembering wrong. The first six Miss Universe 2010 bios have no hometown; same with the last three (these include Miss USA, which should be a no-brainer). For Miss Universe 2009, of the first six and last four, only Miss Venezuela, overall winner, shows a hometown. (Unless the info is only shown to those who care enough to register as a "member", which I did not.) Fat&Happy (talk) 01:14, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Orianthi
It's true that Orianthi has been removed from the Miss Universe website however this sourced information should not be removed until further sourced information can be found that confirms she will not be performing, anything else is original research.
