[edit]No back-up to support any of the 'potential' host cities. They all sound like somebody made them up. As for the Barbados piece, it can not even be considered speculative. A lot of the information on this page is way above and beyond the thoughts of an optimistic Miss Universe fan.
For your information....don't delete some countries that are deleted in Global Beauties because these are just only a few speculations....we will wait until the Miss Universe Organization has made the final decision in selecting a number of countries who will compete in the Miss Universe contest this year seriously....
I removed Ireland contestant. There are no source for this unconfirmed delegate.
The article says: "All information is unconfirmed until the delegates arrive to the host city" I'm going to add her again. 2004 Miss Ireland, Mary Gormley was Miss Northern Ireland 2004 1st Runner-Up. 2005 Miss Ireland was Miss Northern Ireland 2005 1st Runner-Up. Jenny Curran is Miss Northern Ireland 2006 1st Runner Up.
Sorry, but this above logic is wrong. Mary Gormly was bestowed the title "Miss Universe Ireland 2005" but so happened to also be crowned as Miss Northern Ireland 2005. This contest is a separate entity from the Miss Universe system and the women who compete in this contest only compete in the Miss World system. In 2006 the Miss Universe contestant from Ireland (Melanie Boreham) was NOT a runner-up for the Miss N. Ireland contest because a separate licensee in Northern Ireland holds the right to choose the Irish representative for Miss Universe, and that person is yet to be chosen for next year.
Wich are your sources for the info?
It's because I don't know in what site I can see the official list of nations.
Thanks
Why is someone keeping Panama's selection information out? It is confirmed that Diana Patricia Broce outright WON Senorita Panama. Do I need to upload a pic to show proof that she won the title?! It's getting ridiculous. SHE WON MISS PANAMA! Enough with the deleting on this one, okay! Source and confirmation of her win/crowning pic is also there: http://www.laprensahn.com/vivir_nota.php?id04962=4792&t=1173589200 (Spanish)
is it the real date?
[edit]i was just wondering if the 29th of may really is the true date of Miss Universe. i mean that date is on a thusday in the middle of a week, seems strange??--Matrix17 12:00, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

RBD
[edit]The website of the group is wrong. RBD will be sing on the Presentation Show, not the final night. 'Alex Duilius'
Candiates and Trivia
[edit]Where is the "Miss Universe 2007 Offical Participating List"? It is no where to be found on the offical site. Also why are the nations of Lithuania and St. Kitts & Nevis excluded from the candiates? Please give an explanation here.

Remember this is an encyclopedia
[edit]I just want to remind editors that this is an encyclopedia, not a fan site, and as such there are certain style and tone requirements. Check out Wikipedia's Manual of Style for more information. I appreciate that some of this stuff is difficult to reference because of the language barrier, and that language issues make writing in an encyclopedic tone difficult for some editors. If anyone has any queries bring it up on the talk page, rather than in the article itself. -- PageantUpdater • talk | contribs | esperanza 22:50, 14 April 2007 (UTC)
miss germany
[edit]From where you have obtain the name of Miss Germany?? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 189.140.166.229 (talk) 22:54, 1 May 2007 (UTC).
Hosts
[edit]Someone posted the press release on one of the forums... I can't find it anywhere else but I think it's certain enough to be posted now. Hopefully it will hit the news soon. PageantUpdater User Talk Review me! 06:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Mario Lopez
[edit]The private life of the host of the pageant, or his former wife was or not a winner of Miss USA is irrelevant and out of the propouse of this article. Please, write an article of Mario Lopez or a fan site about him.

Mario Lopez
[edit]I included the comment about Mario Lopez being briefly married to Ali Landry because it is yet another connection to the Miss Universe Organization... I don't think any previous host has ever been married (even briefly) to a former Miss Universe Organization titleholder. At to that the fact that he hosted the pageant that his co-host Vanessa Minnillo won, and I think it is worthy of inclusion. However, the anonymous editor appears to disagree. Would anyone else like to comment? PageantUpdater User Talk Review me! 10:26, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Mario Lopez
[edit]I think, this is an article about Miss Universe 2007, not about connections of Mario Lopez with the Miss Universe Organization. One thing is the work, and the fact he was a host of another pageants, but the marriage with Landry, is something out of the subject of this article.

Music used / trivia section
[edit]Would seem to me that this would make a decent addition as trivia / general reference for music freaks like myself. (I ask for personal interest, as well - I cannot think of the name of the song that was playing during the evening gowns, so if anyone knows, I'd be interested.) Exigence 02:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Miss America "Booed" by Mexican Audience
[edit]I noticed the audience at large was booing Rachel Smith -- Miss USA representative -- particularly when she was chosen as amongst the top 5 finalists and the "final question" round. Should this "fact" be included in the article or not??? Will it pose a significant potential information and help build the article???
- I noticed this too and I think it is a dramatic representation of how the global community feels about America currently. I don't think they had a personal problem with her, they had a problem with the country she represented, and it was an unprecedented moment that should be mentioned. 141.158.39.73 04:33, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- It needs to be included, in the context of 1993 as well. I'll try and dig up some sources. PageantUpdater User Talk Review me! 04:37, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Why do most of the contestants get their own articles?
[edit]IMO only the top 5-10 finishers should have them; the rest are trivia and should be merged into the main 2007 pageant article. They're not notable enough for Wikipedia. 69.181.82.17 08:23, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Sint Maarten? Really?
[edit]This article has a link to the Dutch side of Saint Martin, Sint Maarten. I don't think that's right, but have no idea how to confirm or deny. Kww 19:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
could someone explain why the wording for the "miss indonesia and miss malaysia costume dispute" is so screwed up? I had difficulty understanding it. Or should I edit it for grammar? It's going to be difficult coz I've absolutely no idea what it's talking about (and I'm from Singapore, so inb4 bigotry) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.150.20 (talk) 19:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I second it. I had a hard time understanding what was being said, and I still don't have any idea. It would be great if we refine grammar a bit or rather remove the section altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.173.226.163 (talk) 06:05, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Final Scores and Placement
[edit]Please stop fabricating scores and manipulating the placement to make it seem that Miss Nicaragua finished in 6th or 8th place. She finished in 10th, while Tanzania and Mexico finished in 6th and 8th. If you need confirmation on the scores, the appropriate and corroborating clips are on YouTube: Swimsuit Competition for the Top 15 [1], Evening Gown Competition for the Top 10 [2]. I find it silly why these petty, counterfactual edits must be made. Changing a particular contestant's placement according to one's personal opinion or preference will not change what already actually happened and how that contestant scored or placed. 71.104.233.81 (talk) 23:01, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
BEST NATIONAL COSTUME AWARD
[edit]The Miss Universe Organization NEVER awarded the Best National Costume Award. Now, after more than ten years, an indonesian paper says Indonesia won that award. It's clearly made up news. It's necessary to support this news with other sources, photographs of Miss Indonesia receiving the award, or the award itself; also the Miss Universe Organization official list works. Otherwise we cannot affirm that it is not a hoax.--Alex Duilius (talk) 18:42, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Alex Duilius I move your topic here since it's relevant with many editors concern back in the day when this page was created as you can read above. It's not a made up news, This is an old topic since this page was created back in 2006, as you can see that this Miss Universe 2007 Best National Costume Award section was deleted before so many times by the Miss Malaysia supporters or Malaysian who did not accept the victory that Miss Indonesia won the award. Please read the Miss Universe 2007#National costume controversy for details with stated newspaper references. It's very impossible to have the actual date (on 2007) reference for now since most of the url links that released before 2010 is not accessible on search engine and some pages were missing if you access it on 2021 (Which you can tell that this Miss Universe 2007 page also lack of on time references that still active). But it is a legitimate topic came with two different newspaper agency as stated on the references, and it's published on different year version as well, so It's clear and it is not a made up news!--Lukewon (talk) 14:17, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi. You can't move a topic on the discussion page just because you want to downplay it (seriously? Move it to an unrelated topic?). Clearly the alleged Malaysian-Indonesian controversy never happened; I live in Mexico City, I followed the contest closely and said dispute was never mentioned, and that is why there is no source that supports said controversy other than the page you put up. The Indonesian award is the brainchild of some Indonesian fanatic. It´s clear. No newspaper article, No one specialized page or the organization itself have ever mentioned this award. I repeat, it is very easy to support such information: look for another source, if it is possible to support the triumphs of the 1950s, it would be easy to find something that supports one of 2007. If you cannot find it, it's because does't exist. The awards for China and the Philippines were awarded on TV, and you can find a lot of sources with the info, is the big difference.--Alex Duilius (talk) 23:20, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
its become weird when youre kept on deleting my edits, youre not supposed to delete my edits, its STATED THERE ON REFERENCES that theres a topic related with the best national costume topic. It’s your problems not any other editors, its become an old topic since back in the day but you refuse to read this talk page history. youre not expert editor though so why do I need to care about you? its sounds funny when u said you’re staying in mexico city while Im also stay in mexico city and watch the pageant itself. But It cannot be the parameter ln judging the topic or creating the topic on wikipedia. I found 2 legitimate sources for this article but yet you’re still asking me to find another sources just to make u believe thats its a real topic, what a non sense argument here. And why not you’re studying or googling by yourself to find the article to find the topic and news just to satisfy yourself or making yourself believe thats its not hoax, sorry not sorry but the sources that I’m using is more than enough for 2007 event. and 2 sources is enough for this topic rather than overlinking since this page is also not fully citation with links now. You better study and googling by yourself and stop making a non sense argument by reverting my edits. try to educating yourself as a smart user! Bye Lukewon (talk) 05:56, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
- The award was never awarded. You can put twenty references, but that something is published does not mean that it is credible. You are taking this as a personal dispute, when you must clearly state the information you bring, in addition to the references must be in English.--Alex Duilius (talk) 22:16, 17 January 2021 (UTC)
