Fact someone actually said this was caused by wooden wheels from medieval times is embarrassing, hilarious, and somewhat insulting. Striations like this were made long time ago, about 10k years ago. "Erich von Däniken hypothesized that the tracks were runways for take-offs and landings of extraterrestrial visitors."
EvD said that for the Nasca lines in Peru - not for the cart ruts in Malta, as far as I am aware. Someone should produce a page reference where EvD says this is his belief for the Maltese cart ruts.
Talk: Prehistorical found in 2001 - how to interpret?
[edit]Dear all,
please see: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diskussion:Schleifspuren_%28Malta%29
What do you think about my found? I'd like to get your opinion and - if possible - that a scientist have a deeper look on it.
Thank you in advance for all your efforts
Best regards

Reliable source but we need someone to read it
[edit]I've removed the following: "An Italian publishing house (Edizioni Saecula www.edizionisaecula.it) with its book "Halade mystai. Iniziando al mare - Cart ruts una nuova interpretazione" gives new suggestions[specify] about these archaeological evidences."
I'm sure that the author, Massimo Frera, is a reliable source - archaeologist and all that, but we need something specific, page numbers, etc. Doug Weller talk 13:26, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

The research published in 2008 - inadequate
[edit]From what I can tell from the research published in 2008 and cited in the page as the only viable explanation is inadequate, if this removal of hard surface material leading to significant erosion was a thing, we would see this phenomenon in several other locations globally. And more pointedly it fails to explain how some of these rut marks lead off cliffs. Given that there are some very clear failings of this explanation other explanations (and I am sure there are plenty) should also be presented.
- Fine, go find some other sources meeting WP:RS. Doug Weller talk 16:55, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
