Date of birth/death
[edit]I've been trying to track these down, if for no other reason than the accuracy of trivia. On many websites, she is reported to have died on February 15, 1985 when she would have been around 87. However, another website quotes her at age 92, very much alive, in an interview in People Magazine, September 25, 1989. Yet another website, which seems to have been last updated around 2002, lists her among deceased former hosts. At that time she would have been around 105, so it's a reasonable assumption.

After a search on the Social Security Death Index, I discovered this:
- MISKEL W SPILLMAN (born 08 Sep 1897 - died 30 Mar 1992) 70119 (New Orleans, Orleans, LA)
With approximately the right birthdate and place of residence, this is quite possibly the Miskel Spillman who hosted, although the date of death is quite different from that which is listed. 4 Feb 2006 Katagelophobia
- You must be right. 1. It's a very uncommon name. 2. We know the SNL host lived in New Orleans. 3. The birthdate is consistent. 4. The new date of death is consistent with the People Magazine evidence. I've made the changes. Bruxism 00:04, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Hi, This is her grand-daughter (the very one who was with her during the SNL appearances). I just want to confirm that indeed, Miskel died in March 1992. Thanks. This is quite something for her to have her own Wikipedia listing. She would be THRILLED! - Janine Baker
