This does seem like a fairly weak "essay." The main "mise en abyme" entry is quite strong; perhaps this more specific entry can be cut, but some of its material can be included in the main entry?

Indeed, this is quite poor, especially the examples: Marriage à-la mode 4: The Toilette is straightforward foreshadowing. There's no aspect of mise en abyme here at all.
