This is a very, very marginal article for two reasons:
1. Octopus is only seldom part of the average Maldivian diet, which is based on fish. Octopus is not even abundant on the Maldivian reefs and was traditionally only eaten when fish was scarce owing to a bad fishing season.
2. The recipe on which the article is based is not even the most traditional or widespread way of preparing octopus in Maldives, which would be hanaakurun, as every Maldivian knows.
I am Maldivian but never heard about this dish. It appears to be a significant local dish from the sources given by lonely planet, but not written by Maldivian. Let maldivians talk and not let others tell us what is significant.
