Marcelino's death

Marcelino doesn't die just because Jesus wanted to take him to see his mother. Marcelino gets sting by a scorpion and then he goes (or the monks take him) to the statue where he dies with Jesus.

Not in the 1955 film, he doesn't. I've just been watching the VCI DVD of it. He gets bitten by a scorpion early on in the film, but recovers from that and becomes well again. After his kindness to Jesus, Jesus grants him his greatest wish, which is to see his mother, whom he never knew and who abandoned him at birth before dying. Jesus tells him that he will see his mother when he goes to sleep and takes the boy into his arms and the boy then falls asleep and dies happy and goes up to heaven to be with his mother, while Jesus returns to his place on the cross. Italian co-production

[edit]

Is this film an Italian co-production? IMDb suggests that it is and that it was also produced by Falco but was uncredited on the Spanish version. Italian Wikipedia suggests it is a co-production. This website suggests it is an Italian production https://movieplayer.it/articoli/i-50-film-piu-visti-al-cinema-in-italia-dal-1950-ad-oggi_15414. English Wikipedia gives an Italian release date indicating that Italy may be relevant. Does anyone know for certain to update this article?Sudiani (talk) 08:52, 4 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The dates puzzle me.

[edit]

I saw a version of this in 1953 at the latest. That suggests there were some pre-release versions in circulation in religious circles (maybe for feedback?) 38.140.143.234 (talk) 16:15, 3 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
