Merger
[edit]I really think this article should be merged with Shukat Ali Khan. Theyre both about the same person. 39.54.164.8 (talk) 17:14, 21 October 2015 (UTC) Col (r) Mumtaz Malik
Mir Shaukat Ali Khan
[edit]Hi TrangaBellam. You deleted all of this, referring to “such controversial claims” and also saying that Brown was a primary source.
In August 1947, shortly before the Partition of India, Shaukat and the Mir of Hunza visited Hari Singh, Maharajah of Jammu and Kashmir. With the imminent ending of the subsidiary alliances of all three with the departing British, Hari Singh wanted the two Mirs to enter into new subsidiary alliances with him, but they declined, preferring to become independent. Hari Singh attempted to put pressure on Shaukat by threatening to confiscate all his property in Srinagar.
The last sentence was there before and was cited from Dawn, which is a dead link, so I am less concerned about that, but this seems to me to be important information. Would you mind saying what exactly is controversial? I am not sure whether Brown is a primary source, but even if he is he can be relied on for facts. It is surely opinions and interpretations which should not rely on primary sources. Moonraker (talk) 04:22, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
