Macro Capability

It is wrong to say that the lens is not macro capable. The macro mode of the lens actually gets activated at focal length 210mm. Hence, it is very much regarded as a macro lens.

It is common for zoom lens manufacturers, including Minolta to put labels like "Macro" on lenses that have fairly good closeup performance. However the generally accepted macro range is 1:2 or higher (1:1 is very common). Further, most macro lenses are fixed focal length (sometimes called primes). The beercan achieves 1:4 which isn't bad, but cannot truly be considered macro.

I just reset the state in the article back to "No" for macro capable. I hope this will stick although it is at least the 3rd or 4th time I have corrected it. Alanbrowne (talk) 20:56, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Macro

This lens has never been, is not and never will be a macro lens. By the loosest convention, macro is at worst 1:2. This lens is 1:4.
