Hu Bu vs Hoppo
[edit]The Hoppo was the imperial commissioner at Canton, the Hu Bu was the Beijing ministry, that is, one was the man, the other was the unit of government. The Hu Bu was the possible but not proved source of the name Hoppo, but the unit of government was never called the Hoppo. For instances, see the Google search Hoppo + Hu Bu ch (talk) 04:17, 25 December 2016 (UTC)
Name
[edit]"Board" is historically much more common but there's a clear trend away from it in modern scholarship. See Talk:Ministry of Works. — LlywelynII 03:53, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
"Ministry of Revenue" is Sun's term, but alt names include "Finance Ministry", "Board of Revenue", "Board of Finance", "The Households", "Department of Population"... Cursory searching at Google Scholar suggests that "Ministry of Finance" is the most common term, but it's really just a result of mentions of the ROC and PRC's Ministries of Finance getting mixed up with the historical discussions. "Board of Revenue"/"Revenue Board" is 3× more common than "Board of Finance"/"Finance Board", so this page is probably in the right place at the moment. — LlywelynII 04:47, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
