Which business ownership does the departments of education, arts and culture, home affairs and higher education falls in or do they belong to 41.144.79.12 (talk) 13:37, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Portfolios shift according to cabinet positions occupied by ministers, so it is best to consult the list of ministers and their allocated departments see https://www.parliament.gov.za/ministers Derek J Moore (talk) 07:46, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge the different pages

[edit]

Hello Wikipedians. Do we focus on the department or the minister when describing government departments? Seems like there are multiple entries in this area? With a Minister of Arts and Culture Wikipedia page and a Department of sports art and culture page Derek J Moore (talk) 07:53, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ministers aren't always 1-1 with departments - for example the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has the Department of Cooperative Governance and Department of Traditional Affairs. The Minister of Justice used to be responsible for the DoJ but also for Correctional Services. And so on. This is why we have separate article for the ministerial positions (which generally list the past holders of the office) and for the departments which talk more about departmental functions. htonl (talk) 11:25, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
