Justification for disambiguation
[edit]- Minification has two meanings, optical de-magnification and a software coding technique. I do not see any reason to give the de-magnification meaning precedence over the software technique. Redirecting to magnification is very confusing since the reader is looking for the opposite.
- Minification has no psychological meaning except as it relates to optical de-magnification and visual perception. It is unrelated to Minimisation (psychology) and a redirect to that article is unlikely to take a reader where they intended. We list Minimisation (psychology) here for those occasions when a reader is confused about terminology. Jojalozzo 19:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- I need to research this. Will get back to you.--Penbat (talk) 19:30, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
Er magnification isnt de-magnification and says nothing about de-magnification. --Penbat (talk) 19:34, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- Second sentence: "When this number is less than one it refers to a reduction in size, sometimes called minification or de-magnification." This means magnification includes minification - a continuum from infinitely small to infinitely large. Jojalozzo 22:03, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
