Merging of Miniature Austrialian Shepherd and Miniature American Shepherd articles

[edit]

In 2011, the Miniature Austrian Shepherd Club of the USA renamed itself the Miniature American Shepherd Club of the USA, to reflect the name change of the Miniature Australian Shepherd to the new and current name of the Miniature American Shepherd. The existence of two separate pages for what is now the same breed is redundant, and therefore I propose the two articles be merged under the official AKC recognized breed name of Miniature American Shepherds, with a redirect from Miniature Australian Shepherd. I believe this would also help with the "promotional" feel of the current Mini Am. Shep. page, by taking some of the more neutral-toned content from the Mini. Aus. Shep. page. I am also adding this proposal to the Miniature Australian Shepherd talk page. Opendestiny (talk) 18:32, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think this is a smart idea and I would support the merge to the AKC recognized name page. Bullshark44 (talk) 18:53, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Strong support for this, especially since this is the AKC-recognized name. --TKK bark ! 19:23, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Talk:Miniature Australian Shepherd#Renewed merge discussion, for resolution of the above RfC, that had consensus in 2013 and then nothing happened to implement it.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  21:44, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I inserted a small addition to the end of the first paragraph about how the Miniature American Shepherd breed came to be from the Australian Shepherd/Miniature Australian Shepherd. I added this because this breed is new, and the closeness between the breed names as well as similarity in appearance make them sometimes become confused.[1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiVan2 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 9 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
