Move

[edit]

I am willing to move this page from Mineirão to Estádio Mineirão, it would be the logical thing to do as Mineirão is just not enough to discribe the page. Any other opinions? AJSDA115 16:09, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer to keep the current name. Mineirão is not the name of a place (like a neighborhood, for example Maracanã, or a street, for example Rua Javari), or a person (for example Alfredo Jaconi), so, there is no reason to move the article. --Carioca 21:45, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I tend to agree; if there is no ambiguity - that is, no other common use of the name - then "Mineirão" is fine. Incidentally, I notice the statement "It is said that Mineirão had held 132,834 people in 1997 in the match between Cruzeiro and Villa Nova in the final match of the state league" - while this is not referenced, I was actually in attendance that night, and there were certainly well over 100,000 people there, and at several points it was perilously close to people being trampled and crushed trying to enter the stadium (an ordeal that took well over an hour, of absolute chaos).
